The uncensored pages we never thought we’d share. Join us, Jess and Laura, as we revisit the chaos of our 20s through our very own journals. From big feelings to small feelings and everything in between, we look back on a whirlwind of a decade. Is it normal to feel like this in your 20s? Well, we’re still not sure but this is what we’ve learnt along the way.
In Oct 2016 Jess is trauma bonding with a new gentleman (at least she's not talking about CrossFit for once). In May, Laura is in Borneo, the land of the giant bugs, and being accidentally kissed on the mouth by married men.

E18: To Splash Or Not to Splash
In oct 2016, Jess is LOVING salsa and takes a moment in her favourite cafe to reflect on splashing (et al). In may, Laura is coming to terms with the end of her trip and all that divine providence at play has her feeling introspective.

E17: CrossFit is the Answer
October 2016, Jess is reflecting on loneliness, salsa and (of course) crossfit. In May, Laura is leaving Ubud having achieved "total self awareness" (which, in itself, is a completely un self aware thing to have said). That's just the kind of thing that can happen after a week of yoga barn and vegan cafes. Namaste.

E16: Have You Missed This?
September 2016, there are two new boys on the scene for Jess. One is verrrrrry young and may/may not have been to prison but...there's just something about him. In May, Laura has a drunken night she would rather forget. (But if you're the Balinese police reading this, this is entirely fictional and never happened x).

E15: The Vulnerability Hangover™️
In a BSF first, Jess is revisiting an entry that she previously censored (gasp!) that details her star-crossed love affair that wasn't meant to be (...or was it?) . After 7 days, Laura is back baby and discovering the power of Balinese spirit AND spirits.

E14: The Conveyor Belt of Life
In Sept 2016, Jess is thinking a LOT about paths...and a peanut butter brownie. In May, Laura is still processing her breakup, but is she avoidant or just trying to be positive?

E12: Old Men, Young Men, Everything in Between
August 2016 Jess continues her Colombian adventure by getting lost (again) and then finds herself in a cafe with a handsome stranger, but has he noticed her too? In May 2016, Laura has finally reached a conclusion about her relationship, and makes a decision she isn't proud of.

E11: These Two Left Feet
In August 2026 Jess has made an endless list of activities to help her throw herself into her new life in Cali, two left feet first. Laura is wrapping up her time in NZ (which has basically been one long bender) with an uncharacteristically earnest (and positive?!) discovery.

E10: Stop Being a Fanny
July 2016 Jess is being hard on herself about her new life in Colombia. But...in fairness to her...it has only been two days. In March, Laura has a confession to make, and it's not just her mother who will be horrified (RIP lizard).
16 Aug 2026
E9: There are Worse Places to Cry
In July 2016 Jess is leaving for Colombia, not before she gives herself a (maybe drunk?) pep talk in Heathrow T2 (would you expect anything less?). In March, Laura has landed in Thailand, but won't fully arrive herself until two things fall into place...
9 Aug 2026
E8: Put Your Luteal Phase Away
In 2016 Jess has her very own sliding doors moment with two (almost) job offers. In Abu Dhabi, Laura begins her travels as a semi, lightly seasoned traveller, but she's struggling with holding in something BIG.
2 Aug 2026
E7: Finding Myself in a Vegan Cafe
In Feb 2016 Jess is hanging out with the boys (her brothers, not the dogs) and deciding whether or not to call it off with convenience boy. In Jan 2016, Laura is preparing for her big trip...cough cough "volunteering", but has a secret she's not yet ready to share...
much love, bored now x

E6: Cuddles and Hanging Out Time
In 2016 it’s Jess’ birthday and she has five and a half pages of celebrations that are just lovely. At the end of 2015, Laura is preparing to ring in the new year with an almost positive pep talk, and comes to a brutal conclusion about her relationship.

E5: Volunteering with the Orangutans
The first crazy spell for 2016 has struck Jess. She's just feeling DONE. Has she lost faith in herself or will she perk up for her birthday? In 2015, Laura asks for a sabbatical after a whole year of work because the orangutans are calling.
18 Jul 2026
E4: Chicken Soup for the Soul
In 2016, Jess is headed back to Notts feeling energised and refreshed, probably because her mum just took her to Sainsbury's (always fun). Laura is jumping ahead to 2015 where she WILL BE OPTIMISTIC! For now...farewell dear reader.
18 Jul 2026
E3: Lose Yourself to Find Yourself
In 2016, Jess is romantic journaling at the airport before she heads back to her "lovely Brazil", while she works out if Matt might be a convenience boy. It's a New Year and a fresh start (hopefully) for Laura and she's feeling much more positive this year...but is she really happy?

E2: Would We Call Them Men?
Jess & Laura wonder who the ideal partner might have been back in the day and it’s pretty different to what they think they need now.
In 2016, Jess wonders whether Matt really is the right person for her while dissertation lark gets the better of her. In 2012, Laura is feeling down, stressed and thinks she’s failing uni, and lets us into a time Jess knew nothing about.

E1: Take Things as They Come
On the first ever episode of Big Small Feelings, Jess rings in 2016 with her extremely non vague and original New Year’s Resolution to “take things as they come and don’t overthink”. In 2012, Laura has a new string of positivity, but will it last?
