Binary System Podcast #526 – WTNV #295 “The Book of Dale” and Better Call Saul
This episode originally broadcast on October 8, the original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2026/10/binary-system-podcast-526-wtnv-295-the-book-of-dale-and-better-call-saul/ (https://pixelatedgeek.com/2026/10/binary-system-podcast-526-wtnv-295-the-book-of-dale-and-better-call-saul/)
On this week's Night Vale recap, Harrison Kip's god Dale has written a book and the Faceless Old Woman Who Secretly Lives In Your Home doesn't think it's worth much.
Yep. That's a legitimate sentence you can write when you're recapping Night Vale.
After that we jump into season three episode nine of Better Call Saul, which is a perfect example of how every character is way too good at masking: Jimmy can mask what a rat bastard he is by making an old woman cry; Chuck can mask how much electronics still hurt him while he's threatening to sue his own company into oblivion; and Kim can mask all the effects of burning the candle at both end for weeks. Until she can't. And also YIKES.
Plus there's the usual tangents into 2016's Sing, 2023's Nimona, illuminated manuscripts, and why we'd pick Better Call Saul over Breaking Bad for a rewatch any old day.
This episode's outro is a clip from Midnight Circuit (https://freemusicarchive.org/music/1000-handz/cc-by-free-to-use-synthwave-instrumentals/midnight-circuit/) by 1000 Handz.
Correction: Elizabeth said she wanted to watch Sing before it left the theater. She meant before it left Netflix.
Correction #2: when discussing the cast of Sing, we thought the guy from Parks and Recreation was Oberman. It is, of course, Offerman. Sorry, Nick.

Binary System Podcast #525 Backrooms (again) and Better Call Saul
This episode originally broadcast on October 1, 2026. The original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2026/10/binary-system-podcast-525-backrooms-again-and-better-call-saul/ (https://pixelatedgeek.com/2026/10/binary-system-podcast-525-backrooms-again-and-better-call-saul/)
Okay, yes, we know we’ve already talked about the movie Backrooms in a previous episode. But we just watched the video “Everything Must Go” that Kane Parsons put up for free on YouTube, and since that’s something of a prequel then we had to rewatch the movie and then fangirl about all the ways it’s deliciously creepy and unsettling.
Then it was time to talk about the Season 3 episode 8 of Better Call Saul and wow, there’s a lot going on in this episode. Nacho’s trying to save his dad, Chuck’s trying to heal himself, Mike’s trying to provide for his family, Kim is trying to boost her career (and possibly save Jimmy), and Jimmy is, well. There’s a reason why the episode’s title is “Slip”. Jimmy is finding all kinds of reasons to slide back into his con-artist persona, and we all know where that is eventually going end.
This episode’s outro is a clip from Between (https://freemusicarchive.org/music/wrong-project/single/between/) by Wrong Project.
There’s a lot of people making Backrooms-inspired videos, and we think Vaporama Vision is one of the best. You can find one of our favorites here. (https://www.instagram.com/p/DSa6kTCjLN9/)

Binary System Podcast #524 - WTNV #294 "Revelations", and Better Call Saul
This episode originally broadcast on September 24, 2026. The original podcast post is here: https://pixelatedgeek.com/2026/09/binary-system-podcast-524-wtnv-294-revelations-and-better-call-saul/ (https://pixelatedgeek.com/2026/09/binary-system-podcast-524-wtnv-294-revelations-and-better-call-saul/)
On this week’s Night Vale recap, modern-day Cecil is back with some divine revelations from a god with a super underwhelming name. (Also the trees are being gross and they can knock that off RIGHT NOW.)
After that we get into season 3 episodes 6 and 7 of Better Call Saul, where Jimmy has a really bad day and then it gets worse. Like, exhausting levels of worse. But of course that doesn’t stop him from wheeling and dealing and plotting revenge because Slippin Jimmy is an ANGRY dude.
Meanwhile Mike bonds with a really nice woman from the grief therapy group and oh no she’s gonna get fridged (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Women_in_refrigerators) isn’t she?
And of course we’ve got the usual tangents into bad handwriting, breathing underwater, spilled milk, gory remakes, Transformers T-shirts, and Elizabeth getting certain character names wrong EVERY TIME.
This episode’s outro is a clip from Master Key (https://freemusicarchive.org/music/1000-handz/cc-by-free-to-use-drum-bass-instrumentals/master-key/) by 1000 Handz.
Correction: Rhea Seehorn has won one Emmy out of four career nominations.
Clarification: Disney+ announced to their European subscribers that ads will be allowed (https://www.ign.com/articles/disney-to-allow-ads-on-all-plans-following-changes-detailed-in-updated-subscriber-agreement)before and after playback on all tiers. U.S. subscribers haven’t been told that. Yet.
Also as near as we can tell the last time we saw Transformers: The Movie in theaters was the Fathom Events one in 2018 (https://www.imdb.com/news/ni62156152/), which was possibly to drum up excitement for Bumblebee?
Check out Hugh (https://pixelatedgeek.com/2026/09/review-resident-evil-2026/) and David’s (https://letterboxd.com/leninhawk/film/resident-evil-2026/) reviews of Resident Evil (2026.)
