Black Jesus Project Podcast explores the intersection of faith, race, and culture in search of a deeper understanding of what it means to be black and spiritual in a world that often ignores, marginalizes, or monetizes our experiences. Join us as we delve into the stories and histories of black believers, celebrate the unique contributions of black spirituality to global culture, and challenge the notions of white Jesus that have dominated our faith for centuries. We want to explore the effects the monetization of spirituality has on our experience. This is the Black Jesus Project Podcast, the hub of the spiritual revolution, where the voices of our ancestors and our communities are heard, respected, and celebrated, where spiritual change begins.

National Poetry month reminded me that the old testament is 50% poetry.
That means the Bible is almost an anthology. This episode is two poems, one about proverbs, called "wisdom" and I shared "metaphorical God" because it reminded me of that poem. I wrote Wisdom yesterday, I wrote metaphorical God years ago, last time our president was orange.

#11 - Flavor flav and the profit making prophets
This week I invite some of my favorite people for a story that I would like them to hear about Flavor Flav, or a look a like, who is mentioned in the Bible in a story that Jesus alludes to in 1 Kings 22 and 2 Chronicles 18. Feel Free to read along.

#10 - The Comeback
This is a comeback because I left, kinda.
1 Kings 19 delivered a personal lesson that I'll share in this episode. Despite all that Elijah had acheived, he had imposter syndrome, and God acknowleged it. After the loud noises, God's voice was a whisper.
Have you ever found yourself wondering,"what am I doing here"? You know who you are, and what you are capable of, but have you ever forgotten? Elijah did, but God didn't.

#9 - Mind your business, 3 steps to building a spiritual activity
Spirituality can be very philosophical, motivational and not always practical. But spirituality was meant to change the world. Jesus used it to transform the world around him, until the Romans got their hands on it and we became lazy with our eschatology (topic for another day). Jesus coming through the clouds would be great, but what would be more practical is to see the love of Jesus. Wouldn’t that be crazy, for the love of Jesus to be evident in the characters of the believers, and for Spirituality to change everything.
What if we could create an activity that would enhance our spirituality, financial freedom, and improve our community? Imagine with me for a moment...

#8 - The Creator's Child - Is Creative Inspiration the Voice of Divinity?
SPOILER ALERT: I am the creators child, but you can be too?
Is Creativity the voice of Divinity speaking to us through our lived experience? Then why sometimes do we find that the voice of religious organizations are different? Join Daniel today as he reflects on life, creative inspiration, and some people who followed their inspiration in the Bible. Is creativity an emulation of Divinity? If you are creative then you may be the creator's child also.

#7 - Jesus and Fred, The Black Dead Revolutionaries Club
Black Revolutionary leaders end up dead. Malcolm, Martin, Patrice, George, Huey, Jesus, and Fred. That's because when they are allowed to survive they end up like Nelson, or Muhammed, unless of course they’re bill. But when we look at the treatment of Black revolutionary leaders of the past, might their treatment, or mistreatment tell us something about Jesus. Maybe it should.
This is the first of the Black Dead Revolutionaries club, and we'll begin with Jesus and Fred Hampton who both fed thousands, and were betrayed by their follower/friend. What other similarities are there? Who else should be in the club?

#6 - Exploring Forgiveness - a comprehensive exploration through a poll
Sometimes I’m just not ready to forgive. I know forgiveness can be healing and it can be liberating but it can also be a concept promoted by colonizers to appease its victims. However, I do believe in forgiveness sometimes. At other times I believe premature forgiveness is a recipe for repetition. Premature forgiveness can fail to acknowledge existing feelings. Hypothetically, if I am not ready to forgive, am I wrong?
This week wwe explore three women's circumstances that make me think about forgiveness differently, I'd love to hear what you think. Subscribe and comment at bjppodcast.com.

#5 - Unveiling Black Joseph
Sold into slavery, falsely imprisoned, provided for his family, and he never left God’s sight. That’s when I started to think Joseph was black because despite what he went through God still showed him favor. Black Excellence is a display of Divine favor, despite what you may have been through.
When I read the story of Joseph I always suspected that Joseph sounded black. When Mrs Potiphar was attracted to Joseph and came onto him, and Joseph ran away, but Joseph was sent to jail anyway. It made me think. Which demographic does that sound like? What demographic is disproportionately thrown into jail despite their claims of innocence, “They all say they’re innocent.” But I stay black, even when i am reading the Bible. I might completely miss this in regular church.

#4 - Moral of the Story
When we read the bible the interpretation or the moral we derive from the narrative is important. Like a rudder on a ship it can guide thinking to make you collission points, for a ship, that is good but in this case, it is not. Follow along to today's episode in Genesis 38, please comment or let's talk about the moral you derive from the story. SPOILER ALERT: I don't think God Kills Men whose seed touches the ground, or who masturbate.

Preachers and money seem to correlate, at least in this story if it won't be admitted elsewhere.

#1 - Black Samson- A Blueprint in Revolutionary Leadership
Race matters to God, anyone who tells you race does not matter is either a liar or a fool, or maybe both. Your experience is a Divine teaching tool, listen to it, and your race impacts your experience. Samson is often associated with blackness, in this episode, I'll explain what black Samson means to me and how he is the blueprint for revolutionary leadership.

Holder's House - 10 Plagues of Egypt part1 of 2
We are room mates, and sometimes we talk about the Bible and occasionally we let you hear. Spirituality should impact communities. Spirituality should change EVERYTHING! We talk about how we can change church because the children are our Future.
Today is the first of a two part series discussing the significance of the 10 plagues of Egypt. The 10 plagues were more than 10 annoyances they were a strategic way that the Hebrew God picked apart the he egyptian deities.
I (Daniel), have thought about this for years, maybe even decades, but I had to wait until I could produce some people to care. Please Comment your thoughts, please share, and subscribe. www.bjppodcast.com
