On this celebratory episode, I sit down with my Scorpio Sis, Nakeeba @nakeebaroots to discuss her musical journey. We discuss her musical lineage, how she incorporated music into her classrooms and reignited her passion for music through being an educator. She also shares the beautiful themes and messages in her music as well as what it means to be an artist when for many, fame is the ultimate goal.
Pull up, listen and feel loved on because this episode is an offering of gifts, talent and sisterhood. This episode is dedicated to Khalilah Brann. We love you forever, Queen!

Because Black Women Be Forever Educating
We are coming off of Teacher Appreciation Week and Mother's Day weekend. Shout out to all the educators and mothers! I am both an educator and a mother so it is an honor to sit with my good Sis who is a fellow educator and mother, Lonice @loniceiswriting.
This episode is pure gold. We get into Lonice's 30 years of experience in education, what it means to teach Black history as a form of empowerment and truth-telling and what it means to resist through curriculum. She defines what it means to be a master teacher beyond the job description and we go back to see what and who shaped younger Lonice to become the educator and freedom fighter she is today. #Sankofa

Because Black Women Be Standing Ten Toes Down on Their Single Status
Y'all know I wasn't gonna let this month go by without giving y'all something to think and talk deeply about.
On this episode, I sit down with my brilliant friend and sis, Kristina as we discuss why marriage and parenthood are not on the menu for many Black women. We discuss the importance of choice, ongoing reflection and interrogation of the narratives we've been fed. We also get into the toxicity of the manosphere and the work that men need to do before entering the dating pool as well as the issue of women's safety in their partnerships. I make sure we end with a few pop culture headlines too.
It's a much needed discussion because let's face it, we're not all going to walk down the aisle and push strollers and that's OK! It's about living life on our terms.
