This sermon explores the practical instructions in James chapter five regarding Christian conduct, focusing heavily on the power of prayer for healing and restoration. The speaker emphasizes that believers should bring their afflictions to God through earnest prayer and praise, trusting in His sovereignty rather than demanding specific outcomes. A significant portion addresses the role of church elders in praying for the sick with oil, clarifying that healing is God's work alone and not dependent on human faith levels or ritualistic formulas. The message warns against misusing scripture to blame victims for their suffering and instead encourages mutual confession and fervent intercession among righteous believers as a means to experience God's power and grace. Questions: What does James 5:14 mean when it says to call for the elders of the church? Should Christians still anoint the sick with oil today? What kind of oil should Christians use for anointing the sick? What does anointing with oil symbolize in James 5? Does God still heal people today? Does James 5 teach that Christians should have healing services? What is the prayer of faith in James 5:15? Does James 5:15 promise that every sick Christian will be healed? Why does James say the prayer of faith "shall save the sick"? How should church elders prepare to pray for someone who is sick? Is it wrong to pray "if it be God's will" when asking for healing? How do God's sovereignty and the power of prayer work together? Can a lack of faith keep someone from being healed? Why wasn't Paul able to heal everyone who was sick? Why did God not remove Paul's thorn in the flesh?

Justified By The Faithfulness Of Christ
Galatians 2:11-16 But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. 12 For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision. 13 And the other Jews dissembled likewise with him; insomuch that Barnabas also was carried away with their dissimulation. 14 But when I saw that they walked not uprightly according to the truth of the gospel, I said unto Peter before them all, If thou, being a Jew, livest after the manner of Gentiles, and not as do the Jews, why compellest thou the Gentiles to live as do the Jews? 15 We who are Jews by nature, and not sinners of the Gentiles, 16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Sanctified for sanctification
What is the greatest gift anyone has ever given you? What is the kindest and most generous thing anyone has ever done on your behalf? The Lord Jesus sanctified himself for the sake of his people, that they also might be sanctified by the truth. Here the Lord Jesus sets himself apart personally, demonstrating his absolute devotion and entire consecration to the work to which his Father had called him. He does it particularly, acting on behalf of his people, representing and serving them in his commitment to bringing them to glory. He does it purposefully, desiring that the gospel truth of his accomplished work might be employed to convert his people to him and conform his people to him, that they might be holy and without blame before him in love. What love he has shown! What a motive for holiness! What a terror to turn away from Christ!
