#21 - De genialiteit van Mark Hollis en Talk Talk (S07)
Talk Talk. De band van Mark Hollis bracht in tien jaar tijd slechts vijf albums uit, daarna volgde nog een soloplaat van Hollis en toen was het klaar. De komende maand, juni, is het 40 jaar geleden dat de band live in ons land speelde. Dat was in de Evenementenhal in Groningen. In augustus volgden er nog twee concerten in Ahoy’ in Rotterdam. Dit is het verhaal van de opvallende transformatie van een punker die via synthpop eindigde als een pleitbezorger voor complexe, tijdloze muziek en stilte.

Terry Callier. Misschien ken je zijn naam nog niet, maar hij was geweldig en heeft een aangrijpend levensverhaal. David Crosby, Massive Attack, Paul Weller en Beth Orton, ze komen allemaal voorbij in dit verhaal – dat begint in Amerika en eindigt in Engeland. En of je nou van soul, folk, jazz of triphop houdt, als je zijn verhaal gehoord hebt wil je vast meer muziek ontdekken van Terry Callier.

#17 - Van Morrison terug in Drenthe (S07)
In juni komt Van Morrison optreden in Grolloo, op het Holland International Blues Festival. Het is bekende grond voor de Ier, want al in de jaren 60 was hij al eens in Grolloo. Het is namelijk de plaats waar de iconische Nederlandse bluesband Cuby & the Blizzards vandaan komt, en in de jaren 60 trad Van the Man vijf keer op in ons land, begeleid door The Blizzards. In deze podcast gaan we terug met Van naar Drenthe, en belanden uiteindelijk bij Morrison’s fantastische album Astral Weeks.
