In this episode, we sit down with Tarique to talk about his journey into cycling, why he started riding, what keeps him motivated, and how cycling has become much more than just a sport for him.
We talk about his charity rides and cycling trips, the community he’s built around him, and why so many people connect with and support what he does.
Tarique also shares how he gives back to newer cyclists by mentoring, encouraging and helping them find their feet in the sport.
And of course, we get into the racing side, how he moved into competitive cycling, what he’s learned from racing, and what it took to earn promotion through the Cat system.
A great conversation about cycling, community, charity, racing and bringing others along for the ride.

In this episode of Cadence & Coffee, Wasim and Albab talk about the brutal, funny and very real experience of getting dropped on group rides and in bike races.
We discuss:
The first warning signs that you’re about to get dropped
How cyclists desperately try to hide their suffering
The best excuses we’ve heard after getting dropped
Why losing the wheel can quickly end your race
The dreaded accordion effect at the back of a crit
Why racecraft and positioning can matter as much as FTP
Big watts vs smart racing
Group ride etiquette — should everyone wait?
The mental side of watching the bunch disappear
What you can actually learn from getting dropped
We revisit Wasim’s Leicester Crit domestique masterplan, where the intention was to sacrifice himself for the team…
You weren’t dropped. It was tactical.

We also explore:
Does indoor fitness transfer to outdoor performance?
Indoor vs outdoor FTP differences
Why turbo sessions often feel harder
The biggest mistakes cyclists make with indoor training
Bike handling, descending and group riding skills
ERG mode: helpful or harmful?
Why the best cyclists use a hybrid approach

FTP, Ego & Reality 🚴♂️ Why Most Cyclists Train Wrong
In this episode, we dive into one of cycling’s biggest obsessions: FTP.
Is it the ultimate performance metric, or just a number we use to feed our ego?
We break down:

Volume vs intensity – what really works?
