In this episode, I reflect on some of the questions from the QME test while sitting in my car. After answering 200 questions under close surveillance, I had to rely on memory to recall some of the examination questions. The big QME study guide! Episode 1 of 2.
In this episode, we are breaking down and paraphrasing the qualified medical evaluator competency, examination study guide that was published by the DWC medical unit in May 2017.
In this podcast, I use the services of AI to paraphrase the content in the study guide so you don't fall asleep. I also have them go over the material in a question-and-answer format, and hopefully this will all help us all pass the QME examination.

Taking a closer look at Chapter 18 "Pain" in the AMA guides.
This morning I was looking at Chapter 18 in the AMA guides, because this is one of the chapters they want you to read to prep for the QME test. I did a previous episode where AI just scratched the surface. As i was reading them this morning, i realized that the chapter is a LONG chapter. So i had to use generative AI to break it down subsection by subsection so we could pick up some details.
I don't think there are going to be a lot of questions on the test on this chapter. But still, they want us to read it. Remember when evaluating a patient, you are allowed to add an additional 3% to their rating to account for an unusual amount of pain.

Physician's Guide to California Worker's Compensation, Chapters 7 through 16
If you're taking the QE test and you were a California physician, they recommend that you have a thorough understanding of the physicians guide to practicing Worker's Compensation in California. This is the back half of the book where we study chapters 7 through chapters 16.
To help prepare this podcast that utilize the help of AI to make the content a little bit more approachable than reading through the book. Reading through the book can make you fall asleep, and this is no good if you are trying to drive your car. With this podcast, AI keeps it interesting and you're able to drive your car while absorbing some of the information at the same time. I recommend still going through each Katherine reading it if you are preparing for the test but hopefully this helps you out.
