Hearing about the theory, JP was intrigued, but he wasn't going to accept it just because a mathematician said it was true. So, of course, being MIT nerds, we decided we would figure out whether it was true or not. To test the theory, they needed a computer. And in the 1970s, that wasn't something most people could easily access, even at MIT. But the lab where JP worked did have them. So without exactly advertising what he was doing, he used one of those computers to run the numbers. […]
