Gynaecological Cancer Awareness
It is Gynaecological Cancer Awareness month in September. Mandy Savage from the Cancer Society discussed awareness, prevention, symptoms, and support for gynaecological cancers, including ovarian, cervical, uterine, vulval, and vaginal cancers. Approximately 1,000 New Zealand women are diagnosed each year and approximately 400 die from these cancers. Learn more here about prevention, symptoms and where to go to for help.

Stomach Cancer - What You Need to Know
Stomach cancer is often difficult to detect early because many of its symptoms can be mistaken for common digestive issues. In this episode of Cancer Kōrero, Mandy explains what stomach (gastric) cancer is, the symptoms you should never ignore, and why early detection can make a life-saving difference. They discuss key risk factors including family history, genetic conditions such as the CDH1 gene mutation, H. pylori infection, smoking, alcohol, and lifestyle choices that can influence cancer risk.
