康熙二十二年（1683年）仓央嘉措生于一户农奴家庭，父亲扎西丹增，母亲次旺拉姆。家中世代信奉宁玛派佛教。康熙（1697年）被当时的西sang 摄政王第巴·桑结嘉措认定为五世转世灵童，同年在桑结嘉措的主持下在布达拉宫举行了坐床典礼。康熙四十四年（1705年）被废，据传在康熙四十五年（1706年）的押解途中圆寂。<br />仓央嘉措是西zang最具代表的民歌诗人，写了很多细腻真挚的诗歌，其中最为经典的是拉萨木刻版《仓央嘉措情歌》。
