Cardboard Culture 43 Live with Tim McEnery of Slab Strong!!!

Tonights guest is a true story of being in the right place at the right time. When I heard his story, I smiled and the lyrics of Drake popped into my head. We started from the bottom, now we’re here.

Kent and I got a chance to meet Tim through a mutual friend named Eric, who is affectionately known as Sanderson2Orr online and in our hobby circles. I am hoping that after you hear Tim’s story, that at least one of you feels empowered to chase your dreams. It’s never too late to get what’s yours.

Let’s meet out guest, Tim.

Cardboard Culture #42 Live with APNA Hockey!!

Tonight's guests fit in quite nicely with the theme of our show. Kent and I strive to tell the story about diversity and inclusivity through the eyes of a collector. At the root of our collection is a passion for the game.

In my case, I am an avid hockey fan. I've transitioned from playing to coaching Tyke, Novice and Atom level hockey players for our local league that is part of the GTHL. Kent had also done the same. Kent and I have were often the only minority playing on our teams. I grew up wondering if there was anyone like me until I had heard that Robin Bawa got his cup of coffee in the NHL. Our next guests have started quite an interesting journey in that they have created an ice hockey program directed at developing hockey talent in the South Asian community. You may wonder, but these guest have nothing to do with hockey cards and collecting. The opposite is true, they are helping to grow the footprint of south asian kids in hockey. You may never know, you might end up collecting their cards if they make the bigs or even better, other south asian kids may start collecting cards of their favorite south asian player!

Cardboard Culture Show #41: Tonya Hampton - Racing Enthusiast & F1 Card Collector November 30th, 2021.

Tonight's guest is our first guest who collects F1 cards amongst other things. She was a single mom who worked at a dental office at a young age while raising her son. Through the kindness of strangers, went to school and is now pursuing her MBA. The thing that struck me was that she cherished the memory of her and her son doing homework together. This has all the markings of a feel good story.
