รู้หรือไม่ว่าก่อนที่เราจะรู้จักกับสุราก้าวหน้า ก่อนหน้านี้เรามี “โครงการสุราเสรี” มาก่อนแล้ว โครงการนี้เป็นหนึ่งในโครงการภายใต้โครงการ OTOP ของพรรคไทยรักไทย โดยได้เริ่มโครงการไว้ตั้งแต่ปี 2544 เป็นการเปิดโอกาสให้ผู้ผลิตรายย่อย สามารถผลิตและจำหน่ายสุราพื้นบ้านมาวางขายกันอย่างคึกคัก ถ้าวันนั้นเราไม่ถูกรัฐประหารเสียก่อน ไม่แน่เหล้าเถื่อนไทย อาจจะไปไกลกว่า “โซจู” ของเกาหลีใต้แล้วก็เป็นไปได้
