AI Is Moving Fast; Governance Must Move Faster - It's not a Zero-Sum game!

One of the most important lessons I've learned while studying the AI Governance Professional (AIGP) Body of Knowledge is that AI governance is not about slowing innovation down. It's about enabling innovation responsibly.Too often, organizations frame AI adoption as a choice between innovation and governance, privacy and functionality, or speed and accountability.I believe these are false trade-offs.The Privacy by Design principle of "positive-sum, not zero-sum" reminds us that with thoughtful planning, organizations can achieve innovation, privacy, security, governance, and business value simultaneously. In this video, I share my reflections on:🔹 Why AI governance must begin long before deployment🔹 The growing importance of red teaming, testing, and AI incident response🔹 How AI is transforming data governance and privacy considerations🔹 Why third-party AI risk management matters more than ever🔹 The relevance of PIPEDA, ISO 42001, and the NIST AI Risk Management Framework in the Canadian contextMy biggest takeaway? The goal is not to choose between innovation, privacy, security, and accountability. The goal is to achieve all of them together.I'd love to hear your perspective:👉 What do you see as the biggest AI governance challenge facing organizations today?

What AI, the Dot-Com Bubble, and Philosophy Teach Us About Governance

My first takeaway from reading the AI Governance Professional (AIGP) Body of Knowledge is this: AI adoption is not primarily a technology challenge. It is a leadership, governance, and organizational readiness challenge.
Recently, while participating in the Microsoft Learn for Educators (MSLE) Generative AI Bootcamp, I developed AI Agents and came away with an important realization: An Agent is only as effective as the knowledge, policies, processes, and governance that underpin it. AI cannot compensate for weak governance, unclear decision-making, or poorly designed processes.
I was also fascinated to learn that organizations once dismissed philosophy as an impractical field of study. Today, leading AI labs are hiring philosophers, ethicists, and policy experts to help answer one of the most important questions in AI:
How should AI behave?
In my latest video, I share my reflections on:
✅ Why AI is different from previous technology waves
✅ What responsible AI really means
✅ Why governance must come before Agentic AI
✅ The surprising role of philosophy in the future of AI
🎥 Watch the other videos here: https://lnkd.in/e7x2z3kB
Career Canvas with Sandra Yuk-Sim Wu
Thank-you to Chong Ho Alex Yu for sharing his insights. visit https://lnkd.in/eEmXct9x
Also follow STRATAVIA MANAGEMENT CONSULTING INC.
For those interested in the growing intersection of AI, governance, leadership, and organizational transformation, I'll be sharing more reflections from my AIGP journey and practical AI insights in future videos.
I would also love to hear your perspective.
