There is hope for people diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease

In this, our fourth and final Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Month podcast series, we talk to two of our boxers, Zoe Blosser (a retired registered nurse) and Kevin Barnes (retired MD/pediatrician). Kevin talks about the symptoms and signs of PD from his perspective as an MD, identifying some of the earliest symptoms of the disease that can occur long before diagnosis. Both reiterate the importance of early identification to help in the fight against the disease’s progression, including participation in our Rock Steady Boxing program. Both also touch on the frustration, anger, and denial that accompanied their diagnosis as well as the emotional toll that the disease takes on those diagnosed as well as caregivers. But for both, they hold on to hope for continuing to live well with Parkinson’s by early recognition, treatment and support. This is an enlightening and heartfelt discussion with Zoe and Kevin.

Learn more about what we do at CCFH to support people with Parkinson’s at our Open House on April 29 from 11:30 – 1:30. Our boxers will be on hand to discuss their involvement in Rock Steady Boxing and how effective it has been in helping them manage their symptoms. The Open House is also a great opportunity to learn meet others who are struggling with Parkinson’s Disease. Stop in at 810 North Hanover Street and see what this is all about.
