Braindead/Dead Alive (1992) Must See Horror
We've got one more Must See Horror before we kickstart our Summer Slasher Series, so we're looking at Peter Jackson's Braindead/Dead Alive. Before he brought us the unforgettable fantasy epic of J.R.R Tolkien's Lord of the Ring's, Peter Jackson was getting up to some extremely gory weirdness with something that's a little Evil Dead, a little Monty Python and a little something we don't really understand. When a Sumatran Monkey-Rat bites his mother and zombifies her, Lionel Cosgrove has got to do something? Stop it from spreading? Keep her alive? Shag a Latina? Truth be told, it's a horror-comedy that you've got to just sit back and experience. But is Braindead/Dead Alive Must See Horror Remember to hit that subscribe button and leave us a lovely review. There’re new episodes every week, and we cover horror movies from new releases with spoiler filled and spoiler free reviews, to old classics and B movie gems. Saw (2004) - Must See Horror
Our Must See Horror features sees us cover one of the breakthrough horrors of the 2000s, and the first chapter in what would become a juggernaut of a franchise. Another film which kickstarted the "torture porn" subgenre, but one that wears a bit more of its Seven influences on its sleeve, Saw is part gritty procedural crime thriller and part blood-soaked psychological terror. Featuring the birth of horror icon John Kramer/Jigsaw, a decade-defining twist and some wince-inducing scenes, Saw set the box office ablaze. So, Listener, join us in our very own game as we ask - Is Saw Must See Horror Remember to hit that subscribe button and leave us a lovely review. Hostel (2005) - Must See Horror
Our Must See Horror feature sees the boys get into a spot of bother whilst backing around Slovakia, as we discuss Eli Roth's Hostel. Arguably one of the biggest horror films of the 2000s, and one of the precursors to the "torture porn" genre that blackened the good name of horror, Hostel takes a look at the dark side of travelling as two American travellers (and one Icelandic charmer), get more than they bargained for when exploring for excitement. Featuring some mystery, foreshadowing and an extremely gory third act that just keeps amping up, the boys find themselves split on their opinions of this mid-2000s horror. There's debates around the intentions of the writing, the rewatchability, the pacing and the overall concept and execution of the film.
