In this episode, CCEP student fellow Alexis Yrigoyen explores how full-time college students working 20 or more hours per week navigate exhaustion, financial pressure, and future uncertainty. In doing so she documents how pursuing higher education in Los Angeles increasingly feels unsustainable despite being framed as a pathway to opportunity.

In this first episode, CCEP student fellows Amelia Bellah and Marissa Martinez react to an article they read in Fortune magazine covering which jobs are least likely to be replaced by AI. Through their research, they discover that many of the industries least likely to be replaced are jobs that are increasingly fulfilled by women. By talking to workers in these industries they explore to what extent AI is impacting these jobs, as well as the role of gender in the workplace.

In their conversation they explore the cognitive and cultural implications of synthetic storytelling, deepfakes, and algorithmic authorship.
