Many Christians have been taught that supporting modern Israel politically is a biblical obligation, but is that what Scripture teaches? Throughout this conversation, we examine the relationship between Old Testament Israel and the New Testament people of God, how biblical promises should be understood in light of Christ, and whether passages commonly used to defend unconditional support for Israel are being interpreted correctly. Many Christians today approach the Bible with modern assumptions about the world, which can make some passages feel confusing, uncomfortable, or even embarrassing. Greene argues that instead of smoothing over these moments, believers should lean into them. The “weird” elements of the Bible—from supernatural realities to unexpected ways God acts—reveal a worldview that is far richer and more mysterious than the one many modern readers bring to the text.
