Podcast Overview

Spiritual Assurance: More Than “I Hope So.” People long for assurance. We search for it, ache for it, and often live in fear without it. Many walk through life haunted by questions like, “Am I truly saved?” or “Does God still love me after what I’ve done?” These aren't just theological questions—they're deeply personal, heart-level concerns. The Chasing Assurance Podcast will bring clarity, comfort, and Biblical confidence to those who wrestle with their relationship with God. This is more than a conversation—it's an invitation to rest in the truth of the Gospel and walk in spiritual assurance.

Is Your Worship Really About God? | Personal Worship | Chasing Assurance Ep. 60

What does personal worship really look like? And maybe an even harder question: Are we worshiping God—or are we worshiping our experience with God? In Episode 60 of the Chasing Assurance Podcast, Terry Peer and Dr. Terry L. Peer continue their four-part series on worship by turning the focus inward to personal worship and intimacy with God. This conversation explores the difference between corporate and personal worship, why Christians need both, and how our private time with God can reveal what we truly believe worship is about. Dr. Peer also introduces the teaching of Don DeWelt, whose work Intimacy With God influenced generations of Christians in developing a disciplined personal worship life. They discuss practical ways to build that relationship with God through: • Praise • Confession • Thanksgiving • Petition • Intercession • Prayer • Scripture • Journaling • A consistent time and place with God But underneath all of those practices is a much bigger question: Is my worship first and foremost pleasing to God—or am I judging worship by what I get out of it? Jesus said: “When you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.” — Matthew 6:6 This episode is an encouragement—and a challenge—to intentionally create space for a deeper, more personal relationship with God. 📖 STUDY GUIDE: Follow the study guide link below and use this episode for your personal devotion, Bible study, or small group. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/gvyhm63ru17d6hf8i5fl2/Study-Guide-Chasing-Assurance-60.pdf?rlkey=ow6tyurockok5irchaf728aiw&dl=0 🙏 LESTER’S FEET: Learn more about Lester’s Feet, current fundraising opportunities, and ways to help families facing difficult circumstances at Lester's Feet. Do We Worship God—or Our Experience With God? | Real Worship Part 2

When we hear the word “worship,” what immediately comes to mind? Is it music, singing, a church service, a favorite hymn, a modern worship song, or the way a particular experience makes us feel? Those things may be part of worship, but biblical worship is much bigger than a musical style, an emotional response, or a Sunday morning experience. In Part 2 of our series on worship, Dr. Terry L. Peer and Terry Peer examine a difficult but necessary question: Do we worship God—or do we worship our experience with God? What happens when worship becomes focused on our preferences, feelings, comfort, or satisfaction? How do we move from worship that is centered on ourselves to worship that is truly centered on God? Hebrews 13:15 describes worship as a continual sacrifice of praise offered to God through Jesus. That language matters. An offering and a sacrifice are not self-serving. They involve giving something to the One who alone is worthy. In this episode, we discuss: • What the Bible means when it speaks about worship • Why worship is more than singing or music • The difference between a worship experience and a worship opportunity • How worship can become mechanical or insincere • Preparing our hearts before corporate worship • Evaluating worship by God’s glory instead of personal preference • Becoming active participants rather than spectators • Worshiping the Father in spirit and truth The question is not simply, “Did I enjoy worship?” The greater question is: Was God honored, glorified, and pleased by what I offered Him? “But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship Him.” —John 4:24 Download the study guide using the link below and work through the questions personally, with your family, or as part of a small group. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/7m9ew85acnlkvypamblcs/AO1MAFAJ2xkFCVsRumVCgjk?rlkey=8zkerx0a2sceh6oxfqr3oo7ia&dl=0 Please subscribe to the new Chasing Assurance YouTube Channel and join us each Wednesday for a new episode. WHO ARE YOU WORSHIPING? Chasing Assurance Podcast S2 EP6

For many Christians, worship has become something we evaluate by how it makes us feel. But is that really what worship is? In this episode, Terry Peer and Dr. Terry L. Peer begin a brand-new series by asking one of the most challenging questions every believer should wrestle with: Do we worship God... or do we worship our experience with God? Together they explore: What the Bible actually means by "worship" Why worship is about God's worthiness—not our feelings How preferences can quietly become idols Whether we've confused emotional experiences with genuine devotion Why Jesus said true worshipers worship in spirit and truth This conversation isn't about criticizing musical styles, church traditions, or worship formats. It's an invitation to examine our own hearts and ask whether God is truly the object of our worship.
