When Government Becomes the Danger
America’s founding documents weren’t written out of optimism — they were written out of fear.
Fear of concentrated power. Fear of unaccountable authority. Fear of a public that stops paying attention.
In this episode, we return to the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Federalist Papers to examine a question the Founders took seriously: How does a government meant to protect liberty become a threat to it?
This is not a history lesson. It’s a warning.
We explore why the Declaration reads like an indictment, why the Constitution was designed to restrain power rather than enable it, why due process was treated as a non-negotiable line, and how fear has always been the most effective political weapon.

And it’s watching us now.
