From Heartland Signal and WCPT AM 820 (https://heartlandsignal.com/wcpt820/) in Chicago, here is a collection of the most interesting and important interviews that air on “Chew's Views (https://heartlandsignal.com/programs/chewviews-with-richard-chew/)” (weekdays from 6:00 to 8:00 a.m. Central), a pragmatic radio show that focuses on moving our political, social, economic, gender and cultural conversation forward and creating a roadmap for progressives to be more involved in their political and social destinies. With "Chew's Views" the emphasis is on positive talk and solutions – but don’t get it twisted; we may bring some smashmouth dialogue to the program just to make sure you’re awake, not just “woke.”
Richard Chew has been a part of the WCPT family since 2017, initially as part of "The Family Meeting (https://heartlandsignal.com/programs/the-family-meeting/)" and as a regular contributor to "Joan Esposito: Live, Local and Progressive (https://heartlandsignal.com/programs/live-local-progressive/)." He became WCPT's morning host in early 2024.
A 25-plus-year wealth management and insurance veteran, Richard is well-versed in all areas of financial planning, wealth management and insurance plans designed to help clients with their financial future. Richard’s primary goal is to help consumers assess what their needs are and find the right plans and programs to protect their wealth.
Richard was born and raised in Chicago and Southwestern Michigan and is a graduate of Pepperdine University; he later pursued a master’s degree from Keller Graduate School. He is proud of the fact that he has visited all 50 of the great states of the United States of America and keeps his passport current to make sure traveling the world is always a “ready to go” item. He and his wife, Anne, love the city and suburbs of Chicago and all their greatness.
Richard Chew is joined by Charles Booker (https://charlesbooker.org/), 2026 candidate for U.S. Senate in Kentucky.

Doug Chapin: WCPT 820 Candidate Interview
Richard Chew is joined by Doug Chapin (https://www.chapinforcongress.com/), Democratic candidate for Congress in the 6th District of Minnesota. The discussion focused on election administration, threats to democratic institutions, and Chapin’s campaign.
Here are a few key points from the conversation:
- Chapin said election administration remains strong because state and local officials are committed to free and fair elections.
- The 2000 election exposed weaknesses in election infrastructure and led to the Help America Vote Act of 2001, which provided federal funding for state and local election administration.
- Chapin characterized threats of armed interference or federal disruption at polling places as illegal and unlikely, while emphasizing that voters have opportunities to cast ballots before Election Day.
- He said he entered the race after the January 2025 pardon of January 6 rioters, which he viewed as an assault on democracy.
- He criticized his opponent, Republican incumbent Rep. Tom Emmer, for aligning with the president, avoiding town halls, and failing to represent constituents.
- He advocated for Democrats to use a governing majority to pursue affordability, accountability, and single-payer health care rather than prioritizing compromise with Republicans.
- Chapin said supporters can help the campaign by volunteering, donating, sharing information, or visiting the Chapin for Congress (https://www.chapinforcongress.com/) website.
