[…] We're talking about a matter of millimeters in difference in size. We are not talking about something. Vocal tract resonances, for example, don't shift an octave. Even if fundamental frequency kind of has shifted an octave because the larynx has almost doubled in size and we have these other options. And so because of that, I approach all these areas, airflow, registration, resonance, in what I call middle voice. And middle voice to me in a human-based voice is A3 to E5. So basically the treble staff and about a fifth below that. And if we're training our singers how to rebalance the voice in different ways in that pitch range, then we are preparing them to cross train from a genre standpoint so much easier. […]
