The Christ-Centered Sexuality Podcast is a formation-focused, pastoral expression of Christ-Centered Sexuality (CCS). In a cultural moment marked by confusion, fear, and polarization around sex, sexuality, gender, marriage, and singleness, many Christians feel caught between conviction and compassion. This podcast exists to form people within that tension—not inflame it—offering biblical clarity, thoughtful conversation, and pastoral wisdom to help you follow Jesus with courage, humility, and care.
Welcome to the digital living room...pull up a chair. I’m really glad you’re here.
A snowboarding crash left Garrett Morrison with no movement in his left arm, a severed artery, and just 15 minutes to live. Years later, he and his wife, Sarah, talk candidly with SJ about the long recovery, Sarah’s type 1 diabetes diagnosis in Uganda, and the grief that comes when your body no longer does what you need it to. They share how family, church community, and faith helped them face hard limits—and why sitting with someone in grief matters more than finding the perfect words. Along the way: a transplanted leg muscle that helped Garrett bend his elbow, the hope of resurrected bodies, and Sarah’s vivid picture of heaven: “I can eat the bread.”

Discipling Messy People: Making Room at the Table
Discipleship isn’t a straight line—and people rarely change as quickly or neatly as we’d like. In this episode, I sit down with Lindsey Lautsbaugh, pastor of discipleship at Reality Church, to talk about what it means to walk faithfully with people through messy, slow, and sometimes backwards-looking growth. We talk about the difference between being present in someone’s transformation and trying to become the source of it, why relationship is the context for discipleship but the Holy Spirit is the one who changes hearts, and what it looks like to make room for people who have been hurt by the Church. From addiction and authenticity to LGBTQ+ experiences and my own journey of making Jesus—not “becoming straight”—the goal, this conversation is about learning to stay at the table, tell the truth, offer grace, and trust Jesus with the transformation.

Choosing Faithfulness Instead of Chasing Perfection
In this episode of the Christ Centered Sexuality Podcast, hosts welcome Catherine Hughes, a ministry worker from Montana, to discuss faithfulness versus perfection. Together, they explore how perfectionism can manifest as legalism and fear, hindering genuine relationship with God. Kat shares personal insights about moving away from a transactional faith mindset toward trusting God's goodness. The conversation emphasizes that God's boundaries exist to protect and enable flourishing, not restrict. They conclude that true faithfulness means consistently moving forward imperfectly, embracing grace, and trusting God's character rather than striving for flawless performance.

What Truly Defines Christianity in a World of Changing Beliefs?
In this episode of the Christ Centered Sexuality Podcast, host welcomes Dr. Mark and Nathan Hughes from the "You Are Here" podcast to discuss what makes Christianity distinct. They explore foundational doctrines, including belief in the Triune God, Christ's incarnation, and salvation as transformation from death to new life. Rewiring Desire: From Pornography Addiction to Passion for God
In this episode of the Christ Centered Sexuality Podcast, hosts Katie and SJ welcome their longtime friend Nathan to discuss desire from a Christian perspective. Nathan shares his personal journey overcoming pornography addiction, explaining that suppressing desire alone isn't effective. Instead, he emphasizes reforming desires by replacing harmful habits with healthy ones. The conversation critiques Enlightenment thinking for reducing humans to mere rational beings, arguing that Scripture presents humans as fundamentally desiring creatures made in the image of a loving God. Nathan encourages listeners to seek community, make intentional habit changes, and pursue holistic healing for lasting freedom.

How Can We Navigate Sexual Brokenness in a Fallen World?
In this episode of the Christ Centered Sexuality Podcast, the hosts explore sexual brokenness in a "Genesis three world," where sin has affected all of humanity. They challenge the church's harmful hierarchy of sin, particularly toward LGBTQ+ individuals, emphasizing that all sexual brokenness — including lust, pornography, and premarital sex — requires equal grace. The hosts encourage self-reflection, humility, and dependence on Christ through struggle, rather than seeking quick fixes. They call believers to become safe, compassionate people for others, reminding listeners that no sin is beyond God's redemptive power.

Understanding God's Design for Human Sexuality
In this episode of the Christ Centered Sexuality Podcast, hosts Katie and SJ explore God's design for human sexuality through a biblical lens. Rather than starting with Scripture's prohibitions, SJ encourages beginning with God's original "yes" in Genesis 1 and 2. Key topics include the theology of the body, humanity's creation in God's image, and marriage as a gospel metaphor. SJ explains why sexual intimacy belongs within the marriage covenant and addresses singleness as an equally valid calling. Throughout, the conversation emphasizes that faithful obedience to God's design leads to true flourishing, grounded in intimacy with Jesus.

Exploring Human Sexuality: Identity, Intimacy, and Wholeness in God’s Design
In this episode, Katie and SJ explore the concept of human sexuality from a Christian theological perspective, emphasizing that it extends far beyond the physical act of sex. They discuss how sexuality encompasses identity, desire, intimacy, and embodiment as image-bearers of God. SJ shares personal experiences navigating same-sex attraction within faith, while both hosts highlight that sexual wholeness applies to everyone—married, single, or celibate. They conclude that human sexuality can be understood through four key theologies: body, marriage, sex, and singleness, all ultimately pointing toward intimacy with God.

Why Are Conversations About Sex So Difficult in the Church?
In this episode of the Christ-Centered Sexuality podcast, hosts SJ and Katie explore why conversations about sex feel awkward, particularly within the church. They discuss how personal vulnerability, trauma, culture, and purity culture messaging contribute to the difficulty. Grounding their conversation in Scripture, they emphasize that sex is God's good design, intended for marriage and reflecting Christ's relationship with the church. They acknowledge that marriage and sexuality require honest, ongoing conversations, and encourage listeners to find trusted, Scripture-grounded people to open up to, while reminding them that only Jesus offers perfect love and acceptance.

Honest Conversations on Sex, Scripture, and Surrender: Starting the Dialogue
Welcome to the Christ-Centered Sexuality Podcast.
In this introductory podcast episode, host SJ explores human sexuality through a traditional, non-affirming Christian lens. Using striking statistics—like the $58 billion adult entertainment industry and alarming rates of sexual violence—SJ highlights sexuality's profound impact on humanity. Drawing from Genesis 1-3, SJ contrasts God's original design for sexuality with the brokenness introduced by the fall, arguing that true freedom comes through following Jesus and Scripture rather than cultural narratives. The episode sets the tone for an honest, respectful dialogue about navigating sexuality according to biblical teachings, promising future conversations covering topics like marriage, identity, desire, and singleness.
