Come hang out with us while we talk about all things spooky and scary in our own fun little squirrel brain type of way. Just 3 chronically ill girlies trying to scare our brains into acting right and dragging y'all along for the ride.
Bad Bitches of Appalachia Episode 14|Chronically Creepy
Three legendary women. Three creepy stories. And three podcast hosts who probably relate to them a little more than we should.
This week, we’re heading into Appalachian folklore to meet some truly unforgettable women: the Wampus Cat, Mother Tabitha—the Bone Lady of Appalachia—and Spearfinger, the stone-skinned liver thief with one seriously terrifying finger.
We dig into the different versions of their stories, where the legends came from, and how they've changed over time. And, naturally, we somehow end up comparing ourselves to these bad bitches more than once.
Come for the folklore. Stay for the concerning amount of self-identification.
Welcome to Episode 14 of Chronically Creepy: Bad Bitches of Appalachian Folklore.

America's First Serial Killers- The Notorious Harpe Brothers
America's first serial killers? 🔪
Long before true crime had a name, Micajah "Big" Harpe and Wiley "Little" Harpe were terrorizing the American frontier — robbing, murdering, and leaving a trail of bodies across Kentucky and Tennessee. We dig into their brutal crime spree, the legends that grew around them, and how their reign of terror finally came to an end which we like to think involved Big Harpe's wife thumping his head on every tree on the way home.
New here? We're Chronically Creepy — ghost stories, folklore, and cryptids every week. Follow for your weekly dose of creepy!

Episode 12 - The Butt Whistling Cryptid AKA The Grafton Monster
What exactly was lurking around Grafton, West Virginia, in 1964?
The Grafton Monster became one of West Virginia's most infamous cryptid stories after several reported encounters with a strange, towering creature. But as we dig into the original reports, newspaper coverage, and the story's later evolution, things get a little more complicated.
Was the Grafton Monster a genuine unexplained encounter, a case of mistaken identity, an elaborate hoax, or something somewhere in between?
We're digging into the history, the sightings, the evidence, and the people behind one of West Virginia's strangest cryptid legends.
And, because this is Chronically Creepy, we also manage to derail the conversation spectacularly.
Welcome to The Butt Whistler. 👹

Episode 10- The Greenbriar Ghost and Afterlife Visitation Experiences
This week on Chronically Creepy, we’re diving into the strange and chilling story of Zona Heaster Shue, better known as the Greenbrier Ghost. After her mysterious death in 1897, Zona’s ghost allegedly appeared to her mother and revealed that she had been murdered by her husband. What happened next made this one of the most unusual murder cases in American history.
And because apparently one haunting wasn’t enough, we take a little Reddit side quest featuring some creepy personal encounters—including one involving a ghost dog. 🐕👻
Also, if this episode feels like it was particularly difficult to get into your ears… you’re not imagining things. Between the internet cutting out during recording, upload issues, messed-up audio, and having to completely redo the edit, this episode may have been haunted before we ever started talking about ghosts. 😂

Episode 9- Fort Loudoun and the McGhee Carson plantation
TW for heavy topics: Slavery and racism
What happens when a place holds centuries of history beneath the surface?
In Episode 9 of Chronically Creepy, we head to Fort Loudoun State Park in Tennessee—a place where military history, Native American history, tragedy, and the paranormal all collide. From the story of Fort Loudoun and the Cherokee people who lived through its turbulent history, to the heartbreaking story of the McGhee family and their plantation, this episode takes some unexpectedly heavy turns.
But the history doesn’t end there. When the Tennessee Valley Authority flooded the area to create Tellico Reservoir, homes, communities, and pieces of the past disappeared beneath the water—leaving behind a landscape where people now spend their days boating, fishing, and enjoying the lake, often unaware of what lies below.
Join us as we dig into the history, the heartbreak, the legends, and the eerie stories surrounding Fort Loudoun.
Listen now and decide for yourself: is Fort Loudoun haunted, or is the past simply refusing to stay buried?
