Why Following Jesus Doesn’t Mean You Won’t Have Bad Days

Ever feel like you’re doing everything right and life is still falling apart? Maybe you prayed, showed up, and tried to follow Jesus, and somehow the bad days kept coming. The diagnosis. The breakup. The bills. The anxiety that won’t let you sleep. And somewhere in the back of your mind you wonder: Is God even paying attention? Here’s something that might surprise you: Jesus never promised you a trouble-free life. He actually said the opposite. In John 16:33, He tells us, “In this world you will have trouble.” Then He follows it with an invitation: “But take heart! I have overcome the world.” In this message, we unpack three reasons you can have real hope in the middle of hard times: 🔹 God uses the trouble. Your struggle isn’t wasted. James 1 shows how hard seasons build a faith that lasts. 🔹 God is with you in the trouble. Through Paul’s shipwreck in Acts 27, we see that even when every bit of hope is gone, God is still standing in the storm with you. 🔹 God is bigger than the trouble. Whatever you’re facing, it isn’t bigger than the One who already overcame the world. Whether you’ve followed Jesus for years or you’re just exploring faith for the first time, this message is for anyone who’s tired, discouraged, anxious, or wondering where God is in the middle of their pain. 💬 Let’s talk: What’s one storm you’re walking through right now? What If Jesus Came Back Today? Would You Be Ready?

What if Jesus came back today? Would you be ready? The Bible doesn’t tell us exactly when Jesus will return—but it tells us to live as people who are ready whenever He comes. In this message, we look at what Scripture says about death, resurrection, the return of Jesus, and what it actually means to live prepared. Our bodies are temporary, death is not the end for those who belong to Christ, and one day Jesus will return and make all things new. But here’s the bigger question: If we really believe Jesus is coming back, how should that change the way we live today? Jesus’ parable of the ten virgins reminds us that you don’t get ready when the moment arrives. You get ready before the moment arrives. You can borrow someone’s Bible, but you can’t borrow someone else’s relationship with Jesus. Communion gives us the same perspective. We look BACK at the cross and what Jesus has already done for us. We look IN at our own hearts, asking what needs confession, repentance, forgiveness, or surrender. And we look FORWARD to the day Christ returns. And if we’re really ready for Jesus, our readiness shouldn’t make us passive—it should make us urgent. Because there are people around us who still need to discover the hope we have found in Christ. Andrew met Jesus and immediately went looking for his brother Simon. Friends brought a paralyzed man to Jesus when he couldn’t get there on his own. When Jesus changes your life, seeing other people meet Jesus becomes part of your passion, purpose, and priority. So don’t just GET ready. GO get somebody. 💬 QUESTION FOR YOU: If you knew Jesus could return at any moment, what is one thing that would change about the way you live today? 👇 Share your answer in the comments. What If You’re Not Ready for Jesus to Come Back?

What if we’re so focused on what’s happening around us that we’ve forgotten what’s coming ahead of us? Jesus warned His followers that His return would happen when people least expected it. In Matthew 24, He compares the days before His return to the days of Noah—people were eating, drinking, working, building, getting married, and simply living life… until suddenly everything changed. The problem isn’t that we have everyday lives. The problem is when everyday life becomes all we live for. When eternity is ignored, sin can become normalized. But God’s warnings aren’t meant to push us away—they’re meant to rescue us. God doesn’t warn us because He wants to destroy us. He warns us because He wants us to turn from our sin, live for Him, and be reconciled to Him. Through the stories of Noah and Lot, Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 24, and the hope of the gospel, we’re reminded of two important responses: 1. Take action.Bring eternal purpose into everyday life. Readiness isn’t something you prepare for someday—it’s something you practice today. 2. Invite ONE.If we believe Jesus is coming back, we shouldn’t just look up—we should start reaching out. We are Christ’s ambassadors, carrying His message of hope and reconciliation to the people around us. Jesus came once to rescue us, and Scripture tells us He will come again. So the question isn’t simply, “When is Jesus coming back?” The better question is: “How should I live today because He is?” 📖 Matthew 24:36–44 📖 Genesis 6 📖 Luke 17:28–30 📖 Hebrews 11:7 📖 2 Corinthians 5:20–21 📖 Acts 1:11 📖 Revelation 1:3 If this message challenged or encouraged you, subscribe to the podcast, share it with someone who needs hope, and let us know in the comments: What is one way you can bring eternal purpose into your everyday life?
