Hosted by veteran youth and young adults pastor Pastor Phil Jackson, Pastah J, Amy L. Williams and DJ Ruckus, Church on the Block explores the needed and complicated bridge that the local church has to be a light to the street. The show engages in all-encompassing discussions and theological breakdowns of hip-hop and street culture and how the church can be salt and light to both - delivering hope.
October is Juvenile Justice Awareness Month, and in this episode Amy sits down with some of her young people inside a juvenile prison to simply listen. They share what life is really like behind the walls, what they wish people on the outside understood about them, and the hopes they’re still holding onto for their future. These conversations are honest, vulnerable, and at times heartbreaking but they’re also filled with courage and wisdom that challenge us to see beyond labels. The young men remind us that they are more than their worst mistake, that they still dream, and that they still matter. This is their story, in their own words.

114. Juvenile Justice Awareness Month: A Conversation on Hope, Restoration, and Justice
Punishment or Restoration? Amy invites us into her world, a juvenile prison, where she sits down with Lloyd, the Leisure Time Activities Specialist. In this episode, they take a dive deep into what the public usually misunderstands about incarcerated youth, the tension between punishment and restoration inside the system, stories of hope, resilience, and transformation and how we might reimagine juvenile justice to truly give kids a second chance. This is a real honest conversation that challenges how we see justice—and invites us to see humanity first.
