City Matters Celeste Landry, candidate for Secretary of State for Colorado on Fair Elections and the Future of Voting in Colorado

Landry explains why she entered the race in the first placeIf you’ve ever wondered whether the people on your ballot really have the right ideas - or whether the system itself needs to change before democracy can work as advertised - this episode is for you. It’s especially essential for Colorado voters, election-watchers, and anyone interested in ranked choice voting, approval voting, and election integrity. Why Landry says Colorado has already run an election that excluded voters by party registration How vacancy committees work, who they’re made of, and why she thinks the system is stacked What she would do immediately as Secretary of State if an unconstitutional election crossed her desk Why she’s pushing ranked voting, approval voting, and proportional representation as fixes for a broken choose-one system The security safeguards she says Colorado already does well, and the gaps she wants audited more independently

City Matters Is Colorado Springs Utilities Running Amok? 2026 09 07

A hidden 100-megawatt data center plan, 300 missing text messages, and a public utility that may have been telling two different stories at once. If you care about open records, ratepayer accountability, or the real cost of Colorado Springs' data center boom, this conversation gets into the documents, the delays, and the questions nobody seems eager to answer. Pam and Dana Dugan of Integrity Matters break down the records request that exposed a critical mechanical design sheet, why 72 chillers and 60 generators matter, and how a stamped city filing appears to contradict what was sold publicly. They trace the paper trail through CSU's extension tactics, a whistleblower complaint, and the discovery of text exchanges that suggest public business was happening off the official record. You'll discover: Why the July 6 records request focused on communications, personal-device texts, and specific megawatt targets How a late-emerging design document changed the entire fight over whether the project was 50 megawatts or 100 What the newly uncovered CSU text message reveals about a possible 300-megawatt trajectory Why the missing communications could become a court issue, not just an open-records dispute How this data center controversy connects to broader questions about transmission, tariffs, and utility planning Pam also raises a second pressure point: CSU's expensive fiber project, which has already missed financial targets and drawn scrutiny over lost inventory tracking and a $5 million damages payout. Dana explains why the deeper issue isn't just one project—it’s a pattern of stonewalling, shifting documents, and public agencies acting as if they answer to no one. The result is a sharp, uneasy look at what happens when major infrastructure decisions are made behind layers of redaction, delay, and legal maneuvering. If you want to understand the fight over Colorado Springs utilities before the next hearing, this episode is essential listening.
