CityTalk is a podcast from CityView church in Northern Virginia. CityView is a church family that God is building to make disciples of Jesus Christ in the heart of Loudoun County and around the world.
This podcast features sermons recorded in our Sunday services and occasional conversations on topics of Christ, Community, and Commission.
What keeps us going when life does not unfold the way we expected? When progress seems to stop, circumstances feel discouraging, or we cannot see what God is doing, it is easy to lose perspective.
In Acts 24–26, the Apostle Paul spends more than two years in custody, seemingly sidelined from the ministry God had called him to. Yet Paul never loses sight of the bigger picture. His hope is rooted in the resurrection of Jesus, and his purpose remains clear: pointing people to Christ.
In this message, Pastor Mark Seager reminds us that God is at work even in the ordinary, difficult, and seemingly unproductive seasons of life. When our hope is in Christ and our purpose is grounded in Him, we can trust God even when we cannot yet see what He is doing.

27 Sep 2026: A Good Conscience (Going Public)
What shapes your sense of right and wrong? In this message from Acts 23, Pastor Mark looks at Paul’s statement that he had lived before God “in all good conscience” and explores the conscience as a God-given moral GPS. Like any navigation system, though, it can only guide us well when it is working with the right information.
Mark examines what Scripture says about weak, defiled, and seared consciences—and how we can cultivate a conscience shaped by God’s truth instead. Through sincere faith, a guarded heart, time in God’s Word, and encouragement from other believers, we can learn to recognize what is right and make choices that honor God.
The practical challenge is simple: program it, guard it, and deploy it—fill your conscience with God’s Word, protect your heart from influences that distort the truth, and put godly discernment into practice in everyday life.

20 Sep 2026: God’s Guidance and Decision Making (Going Public)
How do we know when God is leading us—and how can we distinguish the Spirit’s guidance from our own desires?
Continuing our Going Public series in Acts 20, Pastor Mark looks at Paul’s declaration that he was “compelled by the Spirit” to go to Jerusalem, even though he knew hardship awaited him. We discover that following God does not always mean taking the easiest or safest path. Instead, His guidance grows out of knowing Him, obeying what He has already revealed, and trusting Him through uncertainty, suffering, delays, and unexpected detours.
What might the Spirit be compelling you to do? And are you willing to trust God with whatever comes next?
