Claare ny Gael 18th October 2026

On the evening of 18th October 1651 there was a meeting of 800 Manx militia at the home of Illiam Dhone. We hear from a statement made about it eleven years later in 1662. There's also the end of a Manx translation of a story by W S Gilbert and music from the Celtic countries.

Claare ny Gael 11th October 2026

Problems with the House of Keys - that's the building in which they met, rather than the membership - and the first part of a Manx translation of a short story by W S Gilbert (yes, he of G&S fame). There's also plenty of music from around the Celtic world.

3.

   4 Oct 2026

Claare ny Gael 4th October 2026

The final part of the final story from a translation into Manx of a collection of Grimms' Fairy-tales, news of popular discontent in Douglas in October 1821, when a mob smashed the shops of corn- and flour-merchants, and a leavening of music from the Celtic nations.
