About Clearly Christian with Dr. Cy Smith

The Clearly Christian with Dr. Cy Smith podcast is designed to help to Know More about the way your children are being educated, so that you can say NO MORE to the same. Dr. Cy Smith interviews leaders in the Christian Education field in order to help you learn what is happening in our schools, and to our children. Today, after 16,000 hours of K-12 education, our kids come out of many government schools rolling their eyes at religion and showing disdain for our Christian history. Western culture is on the ropes. Kids are often bored and aimless, floundering for purpose in a system that says racial and gender identity is everything. This podcast will help you to realize that you are not alone, though many will make you feel that way. Or, it may serve to awaken you to what is happening in government education and to your family, and give you the conviction to do something about it.

Cultural Influence at University: A conversation with Dr. Rick Melson

What happens in the university doesn't stay in the university. The ideas students encounter in college often follow them into their careers, families, churches, and communities. So how much influence does higher education have on American culture, and what can Christian parents and educators do about it? In this episode of Clearly Christian, host Dr. Cy Smith, Superintendent of Mansfield Christian School (https://www.mcsflames.org/), welcomes Dr. Rick Melson, newly appointed president of Moody Bible Institute. (https://www.moody.edu/) Drawing on his experience in both secular and Christian higher education, Dr. Melson discusses how universities shape students' worldviews and why Christian education matters well beyond the classroom. Their conversation explores the influence of professors, textbooks, social media, and cultural movements on young adults. They also discuss the growing differences between generations, the importance of knowing why we believe what we believe, and the responsibility of Christian schools to prepare students to defend their faith. Takeaways — Universities Shape Culture. The ideas students learn in college influence how they think, work, and participate in society. — Worldview Matters. Every educational experience shapes how students understand truth, morality, and the world around them. — Know What You Believe and Why. Students need more than biblical knowledge; they need to understand and defend their faith. — Parents Must Stay Involved. Understanding what children are learning, including their textbooks and curriculum, is an important parental responsibility. — Education Should Form, Not Just Inform. Christian education should focus on who students are becoming, not simply what they know. — The Digital World Influences Beliefs. Social media, algorithms, and constant exposure to information contribute to the growing differences between generations. — Christians Must Engage Culture. Rather than retreat from cultural challenges, believers should be prepared to participate and influence society through a biblical worldview. Extra Credit - Reinforcing Segments of Fire: A Deeper Dive Into Christian Schools and Churches Working Together

What happens when life gets difficult and the beliefs we thought were solid suddenly get tested? A worldview isn’t simply something we say we believe. It shapes how we understand suffering, truth, purpose, work and the culture around us. Without a strong foundation, it becomes easy to be pulled toward whatever explanation or ideology comes along next In this Extra Credit episode of the Clearly Christian Podcast, host Dr. Cy Smith, Superintendent of Mansfield Christian School, dives deeper into teamwork and leadership and takes a closer look at why churches, Christian schools and families need to reinforce one another as they help people develop and live from a biblical worldview. Cy explains why simply identifying as a Christian does not necessarily mean someone approaches every part of life from a biblical perspective. He discusses Mansfield Christian School’s effort to return to foundational principles such as God’s sovereignty, being created in God’s image, and understanding history through creation, fall, redemption and restoration. Takeaways — A worldview is tested when life gets difficult. A biblical foundation provides a framework for understanding suffering, purpose and hope when circumstances don’t make sense. — Christian belief and biblical worldview aren’t automatically the same thing. Faith has to shape how people understand and respond to the issues they encounter in everyday life. — Churches, schools and families are stronger when they reinforce one another. Consistent biblical teaching across these influences can help young people develop convictions that last. — Sometimes returning to the basics is necessary. Foundational truths such as God’s sovereignty and humanity being created in God’s image provide a framework for understanding more complicated cultural questions. — Creation, fall, redemption and restoration provide a larger story. That framework helps Christians understand where brokenness comes from, what God is doing and where history is ultimately headed. — Christian education is intended to reach beyond graduation. The goal is to develop a worldview students can use years later when they encounter new ideas, circumstances and challenges. — There is no meaningful divide between sacred and secular work. Christians can live out their worldview as pastors, missionaries, accountants, business owners or in whatever work they are called to do. What If Christian Schools and Churches Worked Together? - A Conversation with Andrew Pacheco

Faith was meant to be personal, but it was never meant to be private. A biblical worldview should influence how we work, lead, serve, raise families, respond to difficult circumstances, and engage the culture around us. But moving from belief to a faith that shapes everyday life requires intentional discipleship, biblical understanding, and the confidence to put that faith into practice. In this episode of Clearly Christian, host Dr. Cy Smith, Superintendent of Mansfield Christian School (https://www.mcsflames.org/), is joined by Andrew Pacheco, pastor at Crossroads Church ( https://crossroadschurch.net/) and president of the Ministry Leadership Institute. They explore why biblical competence leads to missional confidence and why churches and Christian schools have an important shared role in preparing believers to live publicly from a biblical worldview. Homes, churches, and Christian schools each have an opportunity to reinforce a biblical worldview that prepares Christians to recognize truth, and to live it. When believers are deeply formed by Scripture and equipped to carry their faith into every area of life, cultural influence becomes a natural result of faithful discipleship. Takeaways — Biblical competence leads to missional confidence. The better we understand what we believe and why, the more prepared we are to live it outside the church. — Faith was meant to be personal, but never private. A biblical worldview should influence the way we work, lead, parent, serve, and engage the world around us. — Discipleship should move people from attendance to action. The goal isn't simply creating informed Christians, but forming Christians prepared to make disciples and influence others. — Knowledge alone isn't enough. Christian formation requires the head, heart, and hands—what we know, who we're becoming, and how we actually live. — A biblical worldview gives us a framework for the hard parts of life. Suffering, disappointment, competing beliefs, and cultural pressure are easier to navigate when truth is already deeply rooted. — Christian leadership belongs everywhere. The church needs strong Christian leaders, but so do businesses, schools, workplaces, communities, and every other sphere of influence. — Home, church, and school are stronger when they reinforce the same truth. When all three work together, young people repeatedly learn how to understand life through a biblical worldview.
