Climate Champions leverages the public's adoration of sport to delve into conversations about climate change, zero waste, carbon neutrality, energy conservation, climate adaptation, disaster recovery, ocean plastics, and more. The first season was an 11-episode series launched in June 2019. It's followed by a Season 2 and Season 3 dual-release in Summer 2020.

[…] So lots of pieces there that are very unclear and hard to follow. And yet, as everybody on this call will know, the World Cup is going to be bigger than previous World Cups. We've already said that we have 48 teams competing instead of 32, three countries hosting. And then in the 2030 World Cup, it's only getting bigger. Six countries, three continents. Like this is a behemoth that's only getting bigger. How do we square that with these climate action goals, which would suggest we need to be getting smaller? Well, the short answer I suppose is that we cannot do that. No amount of sort of on-site sustainability efforts can possibly overcome the fact that not just the World Cup, but pretty well all major men's tournaments have expanded. […]
