Welcome to Close Friends Only — the podcast equivalent of adding you to my Close Friends and immediately oversharing.
Hosted by Kayla Kane, this show is half dating anthropology, half free therapy, and 100% delulu accountability.
Featuring weekly FaceTime-energy episodes with my best friend Aumi + pep talk minisodes + expert guests when I finally become a serious person again.
If you love a debrief or if you simply want to feel less alone in your chaos — you’re in the right place.
My mom joins me for the most unfiltered dating debrief yet, featuring me successfully swerving a situationship, stumbling home drunk after my latest date, and analyzing it with me from the bathroom floor.
We also unpack her genuinely absurd fairytale romance with my dad, why she is apparently still emotionally attached to one of my exes, and her best advice for dating, taking risks, and squeezing every last drop out of your life.
Come for the dating updates. Stay for my mother publicly betraying me in favor of a man I no longer date.

sheet talk: lessons from a dating veteran & flirting for science
This week I’m joined by my guy friend Gio (a dating veteran) to talk about dating patterns, self-reflection, and the horrifying realization that the people we date might actually be a reflection of us... what a crazy thought.
We get into the reason we date toxic people, how to attract better men, and, of course, the felony-level behavior happening on men’s Hinge profiles. Gio and I put ourselves through a flirting bootcamp where we practice eye contact, scenarios, and pretending this wasn’t deeply uncomfortable.
xoxo,
Kayla

sheet talk: dating apps, stealing mens drinks, & fish pics
This week on Close Friends Only, I’m joined by Celeste, co-founder of Known, for a very important girly debrief on modern dating.
We get into why traditional dating apps may be designed to keep you single, how AI matchmaking is changing the game, the actual science behind fish pics, and our favorite moves for hitting on guys at the bar.
Celeste shares so many fascinating dating stats and insights along the way, but it still feels like the ultimate girls’ chat.

sheet talk: baby mamas, foreign men, & being left on read
Welcome back to Sheet Talk: where I invite a guest into my bed to sh*t talk all things dating & relationships!
This week, my friend Cam joins me to talk about becoming a young mom at 25, choosing a nontraditional timeline, building a family before marriage, and handling the internet having way too many opinions about her life.
It's juicy. Let's dive in.

sheet talk: modern dating, never finding love, & cold calling randos
If you love hearing other people’s drama that has nothing to do with you — welcome you are in the right place.
My friend Liam and I ponder our dating lives… will we ever find love? Unclear via our current dating dilemmas. And we get into it with random strangers — secrets, finding the one, and breaking boundaries.
xx Kayla & Liam

the dating apps (necessary evil?)
Bad Hinge Prompts. Dating Pipelines. Unwell Behavior.
Dating apps have turned love into admin. Too many options, too little eye contact, and somehow everyone is both looking for something real and incapable of replying in under 12 hours. So naturally, we had to discuss. We’re talking about the current state of dating apps, what happens when you run your bestie’s dating profile, and the absolutely unhinged date stories that came out of it.
Welcome to this week’s episode.

sheet talk: first date w/ my guy bestie
Today we’re introducing Sheet Talk, a new Close Friends Only segment where I invite a guest into my bed for a date and we talk all things dating and relationships.
My guy bestie Liam joins me for our first date! We’re getting the male perspective on ghosting, situationships, dating apps, and why the bar for men is somewhere in the Earth’s crust.
Will there be a second date? Find out on this weeks episode.

besties to blocked (still not over it): the worst kind of break up
Best Friend Breakups. Slow Fades. Too Awkward to Ignore.
Some things somehow hurt worse than a bad date: best friend breakups. The ghosting that drags on, the weird tension in every text, the “we should hang” that never happens. It’s messy, it’s real, and yes — we’re diving straight in.
Welcome to this weeks episode.

listen to this if you are going through a break up
If your heart is in the trenches right now, welcome. In this episode, I break down three very different breakups from my life: one left me weirdly unfazed, one absolutely took me out, and one I’m still healing from in real time. We’re getting into the lore, the lessons, the crash outs, and how I actually got myself back.

dates from hell (use caution): you’ve been warned…
Bad Dates. Worse Decisions. Stories Too Wild to Make Up.
What starts as a casual debrief quickly spirals into dates-from-hell chaos: catfishes showing up fatter than their pics with mullets, bragging about exes and threesomes, coffee-date stinginess, period stained sheets, and a jacket that became collateral damage. This episode is messy, unfiltered, and maybe a little too honest—exactly how we like it.
Welcome to this weeks episode.

stars don’t lie (we fear): the valentine’s reading you didn’t ask for
Is your love life written in the stars… or just cursed by Mercury retrograde? We’re joined by our bestie Hannah Sophia, a fifth-generation astrologer, to help us get our love charts read by the stars.
What starts as a “let’s see what the stars say” vibe quickly spirals into astrological chaos: figuring out why we keep having the same dating disasters, Venus signs exposing our romantic blind spots, and planetary receipts proving that some of our habits — yes, those habits — might be why love keeps ghosting us. Think love predictions that feel like emotional ambushes and insights we maybe weren’t ready for.
Welcome to this week’s episode.

listen to this if… you blacked out last night
In 12 minutes, we’re unpacking how to survive the blackout scaries. For anyone doing post-night damage control or rereading texts in the group chat with one eye closed, this one’s for you.

men in uniform: are they hot? or are you responding to authority
One conversation. Several men in uniform. Zero lessons learned.
What starts as a casual debrief quickly spirals into men in uniform: hooking up with a firefighter at a wedding, flirting with the idea of the Mile High Club, and writing love letters with a military man that felt straight out of a Dear John montage. From getting kicked off a fire truck to realizing your firefighter hookup has a very real, very secret girlfriend, this episode is messy, unfiltered, and maybe a little too honest.
Welcome to this weeks episode.

listen to this if... you're frustrated about being single
In 14 minutes, we’re talking about why being single can feel so irritating and defeating. If Hinge just humbled you or you’re stuck in third-wheel captivity, this is your small pep talk and mental palate cleanser.

first flings, lasting trauma: a history of bad choices and lingering feelings
We hit record and immediately forgot we had microphones on.
Doing a little debrief on our current boy situations and waste no time spiraling into all our firsts: first crushes, first kisses, first breakups, and the first time we had s*x. It’s chaotic, unfiltered, and very much feels like we overshared.
Intrusive thoughts, shared publicly. Welcome to episode one.
