EP 140: Remaining Rooted In Your Dreams

Today I want to bring the concept of plants. More specifically about the roots and while this correlates what can be learned from it as dreams are pursued. The term of remaining rooted has many implications. It deals with soil, weather, care, patience, and many more things. On your journey it's important that you remain rooted. Last week I talked about the 5W's: who, what, where, when, and why. I also spoke about how I will only focus on the why and that was a big mistake. It's a learning process. And you have to be open to learning to keep growing. This certainly ties last week's episode because it encapsulates all of those and much more. The reason I brought this today is because it's important to know that just because you don't see something doesn't mean something isn't happening. Let me explain a little further how this episode got started. I'm preparing for some additions that I am going to implement in our home. One of these things is adding a wood-burning stove. So, you would think you just buy chopped wood and burn it. But I started learning that there's many types of wood, one specific type of wood you never burn anywhere because it's very oily and can cause severe problems in the future as setting fires often a chimney, and wouldn't you know there's even a technique to how to chop wood. As I'm learning all of this I decided to look at a video and see how exactly a big stump of what is chop. I land on his video of an incredibly huge human being with his ax demonstrating how a stump is split. Now this stump was really large. Had to be at least 2 feet wide if not more. And as I see this man wielding his acts hitting the stump all I saw was a giant asked bouncing back like a rubber ball high in the air and hammering again at the stump. This one and for like what seemed forever but then I took a closer look at the video. I saw that on the stump he was not strike the same place but instead was making a line across the wood. What I didn't know was coming was on the very last strike of that stump it's split wide open on the other side where he made his way while he was hitting. And that got me to think, I didn't see what was going on underneath in that stump but something was happening. And eventually split open. It's the same thing with your journey. Like that stump you got a keep whacking at it and although you don't see was going on the inside something is going on until the breakthrough comes through. But that's just one illustration. I don't want to bring something where all I'm talking about is whacking and hitting. I just use it as illustration of although I didn't see what was going on, something was happening that brought the result that was being sought after. Which is simply splitting the wood. Staying rooted, has the same concept. You don't see what was going on underneath but there's a lot happening and eventually when the roots come out and starts to grow and eventually the plant that was planted bears fruit, you reap the rewards of your patience and hard work. And this is what I want to dive into today, what remaining rooted looks like. Even when you don't see any movement. I'm Edwin Soler, your dream realization partner and this is the closing the 18-inch gap podcast.  "I help professionals that desire to be speakers, authors and/or coaches uncover the beliefs keeping them trapped in unfulfilling lives, so they can finally take courageous action toward the dreams they've put on hold and finally live a life of their choosing." ·        Quote of the week:  "The world celebrates what it can see, but the strongest growth often happens where no one is looking."   James Pierre Points covered: What happens beneath the surface is directly related to what happens above the surface. It's important to identify with the soil your planted in. What ways can you make your roots grow deeper? Grow your roots before the storm comes, not during. The same soil will grow different types of plants and trees. Don't mistake what you can see for silence or inactivity. Trust where  you are in your journey even if you don't see it. Don't compare your growth to someone else. Keep watering. Always and I mean always keep weeding and pruning. "There will be periods and seasons where it looked like you were not growing at all. On the surface nothing changed, but underground your roots are spreading bit by bit. There will be seasons when no one sees your progress, but in those very moments... you are growing in the places others cannot see". And if you remain rooted, that's all that's going to really matter. Because it's just a matter time for your growth explode. If you keep in mind the things that have just brought to you today in your journey you're surely going to growing. Growth is not optional. It's a must. The question is how will you grow and  how much? A clear path laid out for you to take as you move forward. Today I'm giving here the information. The question is now what you do with it? EP 139: I Had This Backwards and Didn't Know

I had the 5 W's all wrong. These are Who, What, Where , When and Why.  I only had focused on the Why and none the others. In this episode I go into why this has been a mistake for so long. This was discovered after speaking with two coaches, back to back which I explain in the full episode. ·        Quote of the week: "Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself." — Jelaluddin Rumi Points covered: 1.    Who- else can help you? 2.    What- do you need to do? 3.    Where- do I need to go for more information? 4.    When- am I ready for teh next steps? 5.    Why.... and this is where I got it wrong because it was all I focused on. In fact all of these are important and this is the most difficult one to address. In this epiosde I explain in great detail why. EP 138: Seven Pillars To Dream Fulfillment

After last week's episode where I shared how I almost quit, things started to turn around almost immediately. Many times, reaching a point like I did just requires a reset, a day off, a simple call or anything else similar.  This experience also made me reflect and look back at what I need to do in order to keep going. I had to do some back tracking so to speak.  And it's OK to go back on your journey as long as it will help you move forward again. I have had to remind myself of something that I learned from a very well known businesswoman named Marie Forleo.  She has been saying this for years and I will share it with you in the quote of the week segment of today's podcast. It's all about the vision "because you can't run toward a future you can't clearly see."  And many times, that vision can get a little blurry, especially when there is pressure on you. So today I am bringing to you what I call pillars.  I called them this because they are immovable or at least need to be seen this way.  They are not steps, hacks, shortcuts or anything else like this.  When you have these pillars in your life, you will not only see your dreams start to take shape and your future become clearer, but you will also grow in confidence and start trusting yourself more as you move closer to the life of your choosing. And a quick note regarding backtracking, this is something I learned as I prepare for my spring endeavor of going camping out in the wild. When walking on a trail, it's important to look back often so you see the other side of the trail as you walk it backwards.  Why? Because if you get lost, when you walk back the way you came, in other words, back tracking, you will find your way back to your path a lot easier. Same principle when it comes to the mental challenges you will face every day. Looking back is not a form of not being committed, it's a simple way of reminding yourself of the way back if you start getting lost.  Just a simple mental tool I want to give you today. •    Quote of the week: Everything is figureoutable- Marie Forleo Points covered in this week Podcast Episode: Seven Pillars To Dream Fulfillment: Each pillar has an amazing benefit available to you immediately!
