[…] Okay, let's unpack this. We need to start with the basic mechanics of what the state is actually proposing to give homeowners because the numbers, they phase in over time. Okay. So currently, Florida offers a $50,000 homestead exemption on your primary residence. Basically, the first $50,000 of your home's assessed value is completely shielded from property taxes. But under this new proposal, that exemption gets drastically supersized. It does. Starting in 2027, the exemption jumps to $150,000. Then in 2028, it jumps again to $250,000. Oh. Yeah. And from that point forward, it is adjusted annually for inflation. […]
