Shomari Jones and Dr. Paul Sutton examine issues that impact education and the education system, and ways that issues of race, power, and privilege impact students, educators, schools, districts, and the larger educational system. Each episode focuses on a specific topic. Within that topic we’ll anchor our discussion in a particular current event or story from the community.
Episode 46: The contested value of a college education
In this episode, Shomari and Paul discuss the value of a college education, whether or not youth still believe in its value, and what colleges and universities can do to better communicate their social value to students and their families. As always, huge thanks to Brad Conger for his behind-the-scenes production on the sound board.

Episode 44: The Monica J. Sutton episode.
If you don't know who Monica J. Sutton (https://monicajsutton.com) is, you need to. Her "Circle Time" media platform is the modern-day, updated equivalent of Sesame Street and is a force for good on Instagram, YouTube, and TicTok, where she provides young kids and their families with engaging learning experiences around literacy, colors, being kind to each other, etc. She is a remarkable early childhood educator and role model for thousands of kids across the country. We talk to her about her work, her rise to prominence, and what inspired her to become the leader and influencer she is today. As always, we are very grateful to Brad Conger for making sure the production was solid.
