The Performance Is All His. The Work Is All Yours.
Do family gatherings leave you feeling completely exhausted while your husband gets all the praise?
When visiting his family—especially around the holidays—an unspoken dynamic often takes over: you carry all the invisible emotional labor, logistical planning, and hosting stress, while he steps into the room as the composed "golden boy." Then, behind closed doors, you become the landing place for his anxiety, withdrawal, or frustration.
In this video, we break down why this painful dynamic happens, how unprocessed family baggage gets dumped onto you, and how to protect your peace.
In this video:
- THE GOLDEN BOY: why he shines around his family while you handle everything
- THREE MONTHS OF DREAD: what was really going on inside me before every visit
- THE SHARED TOOL: expecting his family to act the same, so it can't surprise you twice
- YOUR OWN PEOPLE: friends, an extra day, and time to yourself
If you've ever done all the holiday work and watched him get the credit, this one's for you.

The Best Way to Help Her See the Good Person Was to Own the Bad Person
The best way for me to help her see the good person in me was to own the bad person in me.
That's the hardest thing I learned in recovery, and it's the whole point of this episode. If you've ever felt like you're walking on eggshells, managing his moods, or watching him be the nicest guy to every stranger while something completely different happens at home, this one's about what's actually going on and why your read on it is accurate, not unreasonable.
This episode also covers a real safety concern. If you don't feel safe, the National Domestic Violence Hotline is 1-800-799-7233.
