Ep 33 - Why "You Are Not a Sinner" Misses the Gospel
In this episode, we tackle the popular but dangerous phrase: “You are not a sinner.” While it may sound encouraging, it actually distorts the truth of the gospel. Walking through Psalm 32 and 1 John 1 & 3, we explore why Scripture calls us to both acknowledge our sin and rejoice in Christ’s forgiveness. Together, we’ll unpack what it really means to live as forgiven people—honest about our brokenness, yet confident in the righteousness we have in Jesus.
If you’ve ever wrestled with the tension of being a sinner and a saint, this conversation is for you.
Community Questions (keep this conversation going!)
1) When you hear the phrase “You are not a sinner,” what’s your first reaction—and why?
2) How do you personally hold the tension of being both forgiven in Christ and still wrestling with sin?
3) Read Psalm 32 or 1 John 1:8–9. What stands out to you about confession and forgiveness in these passages?
