We spent two years telling the story of building a homeless response system.
Now we’re telling the stories that made it worth building.
Join Misty Bosch-Hastings and members of the Lawrence Homeless Response Team as they share real conversations about hope, heartbreak, resilience, and success. These are the stories of people overcoming homelessness, the professionals who walk beside them, and the lessons learned in the moments no report or statistic can capture.
Episode 54: Thinking B.I.G.: Kevin “Money Moss” Booker’s Story of Recovery and Purpose
Before we knew him in Lawrence’s encampments, Kevin “Money Moss” Booker was a talented athlete, an aspiring musician, and someone who wanted to inspire others. Those parts of him never disappeared.
In Episode 54 of Collaborative Solutions, Kevin shares his journey through homelessness and addiction, and the decision to seek treatment and build a different future. With honesty, humor, and an unwavering faith in God, he reflects on learning that the talent, confidence, and purpose he once associated with drugs were already within him.
Our Homeless Response Team kept showing up, building a relationship and offering support. Kevin made the choice and did the work. Now approaching six months in recovery, he is pursuing his music and showing others what is possible.
His message is simple: Think B.I.G. - Believe in God. His story is a powerful reminder that the person you see struggling today has talents, dreams, and a future worth believing in.
And you won’t want to miss his freestyle performance during the episode - it gave us goosebumps!

Episode 52: What If Someone Had Shown Up? - A Conversation with Tim Olson
At 14 years old, Tim Olson knew he had a problem with substances. He recognized it himself and put himself into treatment. But part of that treatment required his family to show up.
They didn't.
Tim's parents were struggling with addiction themselves, and when they couldn't participate, Tim was discharged. What followed was 58 years of addiction.
Yesterday, Tim celebrated one year of sobriety - the first full year he has been sober in 58 years.
In this episode, Tim talks about the Homeless Response Team and something deceptively simple that made a difference: they showed up. Kelby, Trina, and the team kept showing up through homelessness, recovery, housing, and rebuilding a life.
This isn't just a story about addiction or homelessness. It's about what can happen when we show up for another human being - and the extraordinary things that are still possible, even after 58 years.
