Season 3 Episode 4 with Mr. Murray, Smith and Pierce

Welcome back to another episode of Comet Connections, where we celebrate the people, programs, and passions that make Coventry Local Schools such a special place to learn and grow. Today’s conversation takes us along an incredible trip down memory lane as we will revisit years of Coventry history with three of our amazing middle school educators who are all retiring this year… Mr. Greg Smith, Mr. Richard Pierce and Mr. John Murray. These gentlemen combined have poured over 90 years into educating Coventry students, bettering our families, community and schools. They will all be dearly missed next year when they enter the next chapter of life. Each of them have worked tirelessly in the classroom, on the athletic field and beyond to improve the education, future and overall experience for all of our students. I know there are countless students that could each point to a different area of their life that is better because of something that each of these educators have done - whether is was Washington DC, football, chess club or some other nuance of their school memories… What often goes unseen is the time and commitment that happens with teachers and coaches. I know first hand what these guys have invested into Coventry and could not be more grateful in regards to the improvements and gains that lead back to their dedication. Each one of these gentlemen had the ability to connect with students at a difficult and challenging point in their academic career as middle school is a pivotal time for students. Their patience, empathy and steadfast commitment to our kids has not gone unnoticed and we are a better district because of it. We are incredibly lucky to have educators like Greg, Rich and John. NONE of them will be able to replaced and we will never soon forget the impact they have made. So kick back, relax, and enjoy this episode of Comet Connections as we dive into a conversation with three teacher who have positively impacted generations of Coventry Comets.

Elementary STEM with Chris Lorence and Mike Staiger

Welcome back to another episode of Comet Connections, where we celebrate the people, programs, and passions that make Coventry Local Schools such a special place to learn and grow. Today’s conversation takes us into the heart of elementary STEM, and honestly, into the heart of what it means to go above and beyond for kids. We’re thrilled to be joined by two individuals whose fingerprints are all over the success of our district’s passion for STEM Learning — elementary STEM teacher Mrs. Chris Lorence and behavior specialist Mr. Mike Staiger. Chris has been a proud Comet since 1993, and Mike joined our team in 2005. Between the two of them, they’ve worn just about every hat imaginable — from elementary to middle school, from classrooms to coaching fields, and from clubs to leadership roles that extend far beyond the school day. What truly sets them apart, though, is their shared belief in creating meaningful, hands-on opportunities for students. Together, they have elevated our elementary STEM program through the creation of a Maker’s Space and the Green Thumb Club, giving students ownership over real-world learning experiences like hydroponics, cultivation, and food production. These aren’t just activities — they are experiences that build responsibility, curiosity, and confidence in our kids. What often goes unseen is the time and commitment behind this work. Chris and Mike come in early, stay late, and pour countless hours into making sure students have access to opportunities that spark interest and open doors for the future. They are helping set the tone for Coventry’s strong emphasis on STEM learning, paving a road to success that will benefit our students for years to come. The impact of what they’ve built is immeasurable, and the example they set — of passion, collaboration, and selflessness — is one our entire district is proud to follow. We are incredibly lucky to have educators like Chris Lorence and Mike Staiger on our team, and even luckier that our students get to learn from them every day. So kick back, relax, and enjoy this episode of Comet Connections as we dive into a conversation with two Comets who are shaping the future of Coventry in powerful and lasting ways.

Season 3 Episode 2 with Miss Bowser and Mrs. Zielinski

Welcome back to another episode of Comet Connections, where we shine a light on the incredible people who make Coventry Local Schools such a special place. Today, we’re heading down to the heart of our elementary classrooms to talk with two of our brightest young educators — first grade teacher Paige Zielinski and third grade teacher Kylie Bowser. Both Paige and Kylie joined the Comet family less than two years ago, fresh out of the University of Akron, and from the very first day, they brought an energy that you could feel throughout the building. Their positivity is contagious, their care for kids is genuine, and the love they pour into their classrooms every single day has made a lasting impact on our students and families. Whether it’s watching Paige spark creativity through some incredibly unique lessons, or seeing Kylie’s passion come to life when she’s reading stories to her classroom — it’s clear that both of them live with the same joy and curiosity they inspire in their students. We often say Coventry is a family, and educators like Paige and Kylie remind us exactly why. Their warmth, their enthusiasm, and their dedication to our kids represent the very best of what it means to be a Comet. Beyond the walls of Coventry, we are not just dealing with two amazing teachers but two amazing people. Their rock solid beliefs and integrity make them wonderful role models to our kids. When they are not teaching, you can find Paige enjoying creating crafts or traveling and Kylie would be riding a bike, shopping or reading! Again, I will reiterate how very lucky I feel to have met these two young ladies as they were finishing up their schooling at the University of Akron and play a small role in recruiting them to Coventry. There is no doubt in my mind when you hear them talk you will understand why it is virtually impossible for our students to have a bad day when they are surrounded by the warmth and compassion that these two offer every day they come to work… We want to express our sincerest thanks to Paige and Kylie for what they are doing day in and day out to shape the future of Coventry into the masterpiece that they are. We are excited to talk with them today but more importantly just lucky to have them on our team every day… so kick back, relax and enjoy the newest episode as we dive into today’s conversation with two of Coventry’s rising stars — Paige Zielinski and Kylie Bowser!

Season 1 Episode 8 with Parent Mentor Tiffany Wearstler

Good morning everybody! On this episode, we are super excited to share with you some information about a position in the Coventry Local Schools that often flies under the radar but is an incredible asset to our parents and families of students with special needs. This position is our ‘Parent Mentor’. This job is currently filled by the amazing Tiffany Wearstler in her second year in that capacity. Among many things, her position is working to provide information about special education laws, policies and procedures to our district personnel but most importantly to parents. She works tirelessly to improve and increase parent and professional partnerships and relationships. Tiffany is a Mom of 3, two of which go to Coventry Middle School. She has begun to develop some incredible relationships with the special education families within Coventry, while establishing a lasting impact on so many people that she helps on a personal and professional level. I’ve had the privilege to work with Tiffany over the past 2 years as a colleague and a parent and there are not words to describe the passion that she brings to our district each and every day. Coventry has provided the parent mentor program for over 20 years now, and the position has been filled by 4 different and wonderful people over that time. It is incredible to think about the amount of families we have helped through those years, and heartwarming to see the ways in which Tiffany connects and builds bridges for so many of our families to make their lives a little easier. I know after our conversation today regarding the parent-mentor program, you will all better understand and agree that Coventry truly goes above and beyond to help our families, students and community. This is one more example of how our Coventry connections make this a great place… so kick back, relax and enjoy the next 15 minutes with Ms. Wearstler. Season 1 Episode 5 - Student mental health with Mrs. Bru

Good day everyone! For our newest episode, we are pumped to talk to you about a new position and program that was started in Coventry this year, called our Behavior Health and Wellness Coordinator . This position was filled internally by our very own Shari Brustoski, better known as Mrs. Bru. Among many things, her position is working to provide consultation services to students and families in the district, along with implementing psychosocial assessments, planning interventions and supervising behavior coaches in the district – a position that she expertly held for years. I’ve had the privilege to work alongside Shari in several buildings over the years and I cannot speak highly enough about the heart, care and compassion that she brings to the table on a daily basis. Coventry was lucky enough to be selected to participate in a 2 year pilot program in cooperation with the Summit County Educational Service Center and the Peg’s Foundation, allowing us to rollout this new position. The grant was for over $60,000 meaning that this incredibly valuable role to our Coventry families is cost free to the school district. There were only 2 districts in the entire county, us and Tallmadge that were awarded the opportunity to participate in this for the next 2 years. I know after you hear Shari talk today about this program, you’ll all understand and agree that the services being provided are building, enhancing and solidifying the incredible relationships and opportunities afforded here in Coventry… so kick back, relax and enjoy the next 15 minutes with Mrs. Bru.
