S3E8 POTS, ME/CFS and hEDS: Naturopathic Root Cause Approach, IV Therapy, Pacing and More
In this episode of Coming Home to Ourselves, Denise Elysa sits down with Dr. Lisa Ghent, naturopathic doctor and founder of Collaborative Wellness in Ladner, BC, for a wide-ranging conversation about what it actually takes to navigate complex chronic illness inside a medical system not designed for it.
Dr. Lisa has over a decade of clinical experience and a particular focus on sorting through the cases where someone has seen everyone, tried everything, and still doesn’t have a clear picture of what is happening in their body. Her work has turned significantly toward POTS, dysautonomia, ME/CFS, hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and their related conditions, alongside a longstanding interest in hormones, perimenopause, ADHD, and what she calls old school medicine: herbs, food, slowing down, and the spaces between the data and the person sitting across from her.
Together, Denise and Dr. Lisa explore what consistently gets missed in POTS and ME/CFS diagnoses even within integrative medicine, why understanding the order of a cascade matters as much as identifying its parts, and how learning to trust the body is both a clinical goal and a deeply personal one. The conversation also covers Myers cocktail IV therapy and how to pace through an energy surge, what cortisol and circadian rhythm actually look like in a recovering nervous system, ADHD executive functioning and where supplements alone fall short, and the role intuition plays in Dr. Lisa’s clinical practice.
Audience members from the EmbodiedSoul community joined live and sent in their own questions, two of which are answered in full during this episode.
The full unfiltered recording of this conversation, including everything that didn’t make the edit, is available inside the EmbodiedSoul with Denise Elysa Community (https://deniseelysa.com/embodied-soul-app/).
