Every working life reaches moments where the path forward is unclear — a career pivot, a redundancy, a question about what comes next. For many Singaporeans, the first place they turn is not an institution or a programme but a community: a group of people who have been through something similar, who share a professional identity, who meet to exchange ideas, to support each other, and to figure things out together.
Communities at Work is a series of conversations with the people who build and sustain these groups.
Phoenixus is a community of over 600 senior women leaders founded by Serene Ong. Built around the philosophy to Lead, Nurture and Give Back, Phoenixus brings together women leaders in the pinnacles of their careers from 40s, 50s and beyond who are asking the bigger questions about living purposeful yet meaningful lives. The community spans five areas of focus: self-care and mental wellbeing, personal and professional development, financial literacy, nurturing the next generation of women leaders, and supporting underprivileged women and children. What animates it, though, is something more human: a high-touch, predominantly in-person culture where women can be continue to inspire & empower themselves & each other, transforming themselves & creating ripples of positive impact in the process of Living Their Best Lives together.

SG Assist
SG Assist Ltd (CLG) is a non-profit organisation that strengthens support for caregivers and older adults. They work within communities to connect people with resources, programmes, volunteers and support networks that help them navigate the realities of caregiving and ageing. Their work is grounded in building more caring, connected and inclusive communities where support is easier to access and no one has to navigate care alone.
Care Innovation Institute (CII) is the professional arm of SG Assist, a community movement that has spent seven years supporting caregivers, older adults and the social service sector across Singapore. They believe that ageing can be purposeful and that care is a shared responsibility — not the burden of any one person or family, but something we build together as a community. Through their consultancy work, they partner with social service agencies to design, manage and evaluate programmes that strengthen the care ecosystem.
Through The Purpose Academy (培福学院), their training arm, they develop and deliver learning programmes that empower older adults to live with purpose, equip caregivers with knowledge and confidence, and build capability across the sector.
