About Confessions of A Reformer
Hi. My name is Mike Maeshiro. I'm a gay, deconstructed former Christian minister. I wanted a place where I wasn't teaching and more inviting my audience on the journey with me in a candid and exploratory way. So I started this podcast. I hope my journey is helpful for you. With curiosity and a critical mind, let's dive in. And Matthew does, patterns his nativity story very heavily on the Hebrew Bible and on extra, what we call midrash traditions about Moses. There are some midrash traditions, which is, in the Jewish tradition, midrash is sort of wrestling with the text and trying to, you know, sometimes in Midrash, if there's a detail in a story that's missing and you're trying to figure out why did Pharaoh want to kill Moses?
