Hanna Zaxmy - Builds confidence in everyday life - Coach & leadership-developer
What happens when something you gave years of energy, hope and leadership to simply… disappears?
In this Leadership Story, Hanna reflects on a major product project she helped build — only to discover later that it had been closed down.
Was all that work wasted?
Not necessarily.
Because the final outcome is not the only place where the value of our work lives.
Hanna contrasts that experience with another story: a gospel choir she helped start more than 20 years ago. She eventually stepped away — yet the choir continued, changed and grew under someone else’s leadership.
Together, the stories explore disappointment, sustainable leadership and Focus in the CONFIDENT Framework: deciding not only where your attention belongs today, but what deserves to come with you from yesterday.
You’ll reflect on how to acknowledge disappointment without allowing it to take permanent residence, take Ownership of what is yours, keep the learning and consciously choose where to place your Focus next.
Because sometimes the result doesn’t last.
But the wisdom, growth and impact still do.
In this episode:
00:12 – Was that really all it became?
01:08 – The phone call that brought the disappointment back
02:43 – When the outcome disappears but the learning remains
03:41 – Recognising your own leadership strengths
04:29 – Ownership and building something others can carry
05:02 – The gospel choir that grew after Hanna stepped away
06:21 – Focus: what deserves to come with you from yesterday?
06:52 – Empathy and acknowledging disappointment
07:24 – Looking differently at success in your own work
08:20 – A practical “closing account” reflection
09:03 – Seeds, harvest and the impact we may never see
09:55 – Three better questions to ask yourself
10:10 – Your reflection for this week
Reflection:
Think about something you worked hard for that did not become what you hoped.
What did that experience teach you that is valuable for what comes next?
And what are you ready to stop carrying?

What If the Answer Is Already There?
What if some of the strength you need for what lies ahead can be found by looking back?
In this episode of Confident Leadership. In Colour., I explore prayer not simply as asking for answers, but as a path — an ongoing conversation in which we seek, listen, wait, notice and keep moving.
It begins with something very ordinary: my husband looking for his glasses. Watching him retrace his steps made me wonder what might happen if we did the same with the prayers we have prayed.
What might we discover if we looked back?
Perhaps an answer we almost missed.
A door that opened.
A relationship that shifted.
Courage that grew.
Peace that arrived before the situation itself changed.
This episode connects particularly with Nurture in the CONFIDENT Framework — creating space to care for and pay attention to our inner life so that we can lead ourselves and others more sustainably.
I also share a simple Prayer Path reflection you can use with a notebook, on a walk or even during your commute.
Because sometimes we focus so intensely on what still isn’t finished that we miss what has already begun.
In this episode:
00:12 – The strength we may find by looking back
01:06 – A new season of work, theology and leadership studies
02:15 – The missing glasses that started this reflection
03:15 – Ask, seek, knock
04:38 – Prayer as a path, not an instant answer
05:21 – Looking backwards through my prayers
06:43 – Prayer as a mirror of what fills our heart
08:40 – What do our prayers reveal about our view of God?
10:03 – Prayer as an ongoing conversation
10:32 – Why the path looks different when we look back
12:04 – The small things we may have missed
13:12 – The Prayer Path reflection exercise
14:01 – The path continues
15:05 – Nurturing your inner life for the road ahead
Reflection:
What can you see now that you couldn’t see then?

The Decisions You Keep Walking Around | Ownership & Leadership
Sometimes preparing for what comes next isn’t about adding something new. Sometimes it’s about finally dealing with what you’ve been walking around for far too long.
During my summer break, I spent quite a lot of time doing exactly that — literally — while clearing our basement.
One of the things standing there was my grandparents’ old grandfather clock. It had enormous sentimental value, but for almost 18 years I had never quite decided what to do with it.
This summer, I finally did.
And as I restored the clock, gave it a new purpose and cleared out everything else around it, the basement became an unexpected lesson in leadership.
In this Leadership Stories episode of Confident Leadership. In Colour., I explore Ownership in the CONFIDENT Framework — taking responsibility for our choices, our growth and the way we lead.
Because postponed decisions do not necessarily stop costing us something.
They can still take up mental space, emotional space, energy and attention.
I also reflect on a lesson I keep having to remind myself of when leading change:
Other people cannot see the picture inside your head.
When a future direction feels completely clear to us, we can easily assume we have communicated it just as clearly to everyone else.
Most probably, we haven’t.
And what we initially interpret as resistance may instead be missing information, unclear value, concern about what might be lost — or even insight we need to hear.

15:07 Unfinished versus ignored
15:45 What to carry into the next season
16:05 Take your next step
What decision have you been postponing that, if you made it now, would create more space for the season ahead?
Just one.
Don’t mentally renovate your entire basement.
Perhaps it needs to stay, but in a different form.
Perhaps it needs a new purpose.
Perhaps it needs a conversation or a deadline.
Or perhaps you already know it needs to go.
If this episode gives you something to reflect on, I’d love to hear what resonated with you.
And if you know another leader who is carrying a few too many boxes — literally or metaphorically — share this episode with them.
