Is Your Life Working, or Are You Just Keeping Up?
Have you ever looked at your life and thought, "I have so much to be grateful for, so why do I still feel like something is missing?" You might have a successful career, a thriving business, a family you love, and a calendar full of responsibilities. From the outside, everything looks great. But somewhere along the way, you've stopped making time for yourself and the things that bring you joy. In this episode of Brave Moves, Julie DeLucca-Collins shares a powerful exercise from her recent Recalibrate Retreat called the Wheel of Life. This simple self-reflection tool helps you look at different areas of your life, including your career, relationships, health, personal growth, and fun, to identify where you feel fulfilled and where something might need attention. Julie explores why successful women often put their own needs on the back burner, how constantly waiting for life to slow down can keep us stuck, and why small adjustments can make a meaningful difference. If you've been feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or wondering when you'll finally have time for the things you enjoy, this episode will help you take an honest look at where you are and what you want to change. What You'll Hear Why you can be successful and still feel unfulfilled. How the Wheel of Life exercise helps identify areas that need attention. Why women often prioritize responsibilities over their own well-being. The hidden cost of constantly telling yourself, "I'll get to it someday." How to recognize when an area of your life needs to be recalibrated. Why improving your life doesn't require changing everything at once. Your Brave Move of the Day Choose three areas of your life and rate your satisfaction with each on a scale of 1 to 10. Consider areas such as: Health and energy Relationships and friendships Career and work Fun and rest Personal growth Look at the area with the lowest score and ask yourself: What is one small thing I could do this week to move that number up by just one point? Maybe it's calling a friend, taking a walk, scheduling time for yourself, or finally doing something you've been putting off. You don't need to overhaul your entire life. Start by giving one neglected area a little more attention. A Question to Reflect On What part of your life have you been promising yourself you'll get to someday, and how long have you been waiting? Connect with Julie Ready to stop going through the motions and start creating a life that feels more fulfilling? Have You Forgotten Who You Are?
When was the last time you stopped to recognize something you're genuinely proud of? We spend so much time thinking about what we haven't accomplished, the mistakes we've made, and the things we still need to improve. But how often do we acknowledge the courage, resilience, and strengths we've already demonstrated? In this episode of Brave Moves, Julie DeLucca-Collins shares a powerful exercise from the recent Recalibrate Retreat called the Finest and Best List. This simple reflection invites you to remember moments when you showed up as your best self, especially during challenging times. If you've been feeling disconnected from yourself, questioning your abilities, or waiting until you feel more confident to take your next step, this episode will help you recognize the strengths you already have. What You'll Hear Why it's easier to remember our mistakes than our proudest moments. How years of responsibilities can disconnect us from our strengths. What your past experiences reveal about your ability to handle challenges. How the Finest and Best List exercise can help rebuild self-trust. Why remembering your past courage can help you take your next step. Your Brave Move of the Day Write down three moments in your life when you were proud of how you showed up. For each moment, identify the quality you demonstrated. Was it courage, compassion, persistence, honesty, or creativity? Then ask yourself: Where could I use that quality in my life right now? You may discover that the confidence you've been searching for is already part of your story. Please Don't Tell Me to Be Strong
Have you ever finally opened up to someone about how much you're struggling, only to hear, "You're strong. You've got this. Everything will be fine"? I know those words usually come from a place of love. I've said them myself. But sometimes, when we're reaching out to someone, we don't need encouragement or another reminder of how capable we are. We need permission to admit that we're having a hard time. I recently came across a quote that stopped me in my tracks: "Never tell a person to be strong when they come to you to be weak." It made me think about how often we rush to reassure people, offer solutions, or encourage them to look on the bright side when all they really want is someone to listen. As a coach, I'm naturally inclined to help people find solutions. But I'm learning that not every difficult conversation needs an action plan. In this episode of Brave Moves, I'm exploring why being the strong one can become exhausting, how our well-intentioned advice sometimes makes people feel unheard, and what it looks like to create space for someone to be vulnerable. I'm also talking about something many of us struggle with: giving ourselves permission to ask for help. Because when you've spent years being the person everyone depends on, admitting you need support can feel incredibly uncomfortable. What if we stopped expecting ourselves and the people we love to be strong all the time? What You'll Hear in This Episode Why telling someone to "be strong" isn't always the comfort we think it is How being the dependable person can make it difficult to admit you're struggling Why we feel compelled to fix other people's problems instead of simply listening The difference between offering reassurance and making someone feel heard How to support someone without immediately offering advice Why asking for emotional support can feel uncomfortable, especially for women who are used to taking care of everyone else A simple question that can change how we show up for people we love Your Brave Move of the Day The next time someone comes to you with something difficult, resist the urge to immediately offer advice or tell them everything will be okay. Instead, ask: "Do you want me to listen, or would it help to talk through some ideas?" Give them the opportunity to tell you what they need. And if you're the one going through a difficult time, practice asking for support without apologizing for it. You might say, "I'm having a hard day, and I could really use someone to listen." Sometimes the bravest move we can make is allowing someone to see that we don't have everything figured out. A Thought to Take With You Being strong doesn't mean never needing help. And being someone others depend on doesn't mean you have to carry everything alone. The next time someone trusts you enough to share their struggles, remember that they may have spent a long time working up the courage to say something. You don't have to fix their pain. Sometimes being there and listening is exactly what they need. And I'd love to hear your thoughts: Have you ever needed someone to listen, but instead felt pressure to be strong? If you loved this episode, text me and let me know what you though.
