Most of us have felt that quiet, unsettling sense that God feels distant. But Genesis 3 reveals that the distance we feel from God is often distance we have created ourselves. Sin begins not with dramatic rebellion but with subtle questions that erode our trust in God's goodness. Like Adam and Eve, we cover our shame with fig leaves that never truly work, and we hide from the very One who can restore us. God's response is not condemnation but pursuit. He walks toward us, calls our names, and asks questions not because He is lost, but because He wants us to face what we have been hiding. The good news is that God is not pursuing us to destroy us. He is a good Father who uses conviction to transform, and He Himself is the greatest gift He could ever give.

Still at Work | Part 4
There are seasons when God does not just feel quiet. He feels distant. Psalm 13 gives us permission to be honest about that distance, showing us that lament is not a lack of faith but an act of it. David cries out to God four times with the question 'how long,' and yet by the end of six verses, he arrives at confident praise. Nothing in his circumstances changed between his despair and his praise. What changed was where he was looking. He stopped looking at his feelings and his circumstances and fixed his eyes on the character of God. His steadfast love, what the Hebrew calls hesed, is a love that keeps its word no matter what we feel.

Still at Work | Part 3
Elijah called down fire from heaven on Mount Carmel, watched God defeat 450 prophets of Baal, and then ran for his life the very next day. His story is one of the most honest portrayals of faith in all of Scripture. After his great victory, he collapsed in exhaustion and despair, convinced he was alone and that nothing he had done mattered. God responded not with rebuke but with rest, provision, and a gentle reminder that He had never stopped working. Seven thousand people in Israel had remained faithful, unknown to Elijah, while God quietly prepared the next chapter. His presence was not found in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire, but in a still, small voice. When we cannot sense God, it does not mean He is absent. Faith is trusting that He is working even in the silence.
