[…] And in my view, first of all, just to be clear, billionaires and wealthy people should be paying higher taxes than they are today. In many cases, billionaires are actually paying a lower tax rate than a schoolteacher or a nurse as a percent. That needs to be fixed. But if I was king for a day and I was designing a way to fix it, I think you'd start with these corporate tax loopholes, the income tax, the way capital gains tax works. And one other thing, the IRS doesn't actually have the tools to catch a lot of very wealthy people who cheat on their taxes. So even before you change the policy, even before you change the rate, right now, we are losing hundreds of billions of dollars, like enough to fund everything, more money than our entire infrastructure bill that we use for airports, roads, bridges, rail, transit, subways combined.
