What if talking to God felt as natural as a conversation with a close friend?
In Conversations with God, host Doug Sherman explores what it looks like to move beyond a merely intellectual, moral, or religious relationship with Jesus — and into something real, personal, and alive.
Each episode is an invitation to experience the kind of close, conversational relationship with God that changes how you live, lead, and love others.

A God Who Is Infinitely Good | Conversation Starters 19
Most Christians already believe God is great, eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, never moody. But for most of us it's harder to believe that God is good.
In this episode, Doug opens with Ephesians 1:3: blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, and uses it to paint the full A-to-Z picture of what God has already given. His point is that we're confident in God's greatness but underdeveloped on his goodness, and Scripture says it's the goodness of God that actually draws us to him (Romans 2:4). You build that conviction one way: by catching him in the act.
Action item: Set alarms for 10am, 2pm, and 4pm. At each one, thank God specifically — for your calling and for the individual projects inside it, down to the email you sent or the list you worked through. Watch how naming his goodness reshapes both how you feel about him and what you believe life with him can be.

A God Who Gives You Work | Conversation Starters 18
Most of your waking hours go to work: office, home, chores, projects. So why do so many Christians feel like God has nothing to do with it?
In this episode, Doug Sherman makes the case that work is a gift from God, not just to bring him glory, as the Puritans taught, but to deepen your friendship with him. We are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works(Ephesians 2:10). The surgeon removing an appendix is God, the healer working through human hands; the same is true of whatever's on your plate today.
Action item: Set alarms for 10am, 2pm, and 8pm. At each one, pause and thank God for the specific work he gave you — thank you for the gift of doing this project, solving this problem, this thing that happened at work. Notice how naming work as gift starts to melt a cold heart.

A God Who Welcomes Your Cold Heart | Conversation Starters 17
In this episode, Doug gets honest about the mornings when the recognize, reflect, respond rhythm feels dead, when your heart is, in his words, full of ice. He walks through the four A's of prayer - adoration, appreciation, apology, and the one most people skip: honest acknowledgment.
Action item: Before you look for God's hand today, just tell him the truth about where you're starting from, even if that's I've lived this morning as if you didn't exist. Then pick one thing to watch for: his wisdom, his provision, or his safety. See how the day ends differently when your words lead your heart.
