We all make plans. For tomorrow, next week, next year and beyond. But how often do we make those plans without giving much thought to God?
In James 4:13–17, we're reminded of a humbling reality: our lives are brief, tomorrow is uncertain, and ultimately, we are not in control.
But this isn't a call to stop planning. It's an invitation to live differently, recognising God's sovereignty and bringing him into every part of our lives.
In this passage, James challenges us to consider whether we're living as though we're in control of our own future, or trusting the God who holds all things together.
And there's wonderful comfort in knowing that the God who is in control is also the God who holds us fast in Christ.
What would it look like to plan prayerfully, live thankfully and face tomorrow with confidence in him?

The War Within Us
Why do we argue? Why do relationships become strained? And why do we sometimes find ourselves responding in ways we know aren't right?
In James 4:1–10, we're challenged to look beyond the conflict around us and examine the desires at war within our hearts.
Even good desires can become ruling desires, shaping how we treat others and revealing where our deepest loyalties lie.
But James doesn't leave us with a diagnosis of our sin. Right at the heart of this passage is a wonderful promise:
“But he gives more grace.” — James 4:6
In this sermon, we discover how God's greater grace calls us to turn from our sin, humble ourselves and draw near to him through Jesus Christ.

Two Kinds of Wisdom
What does it really mean to be wise?
Is wisdom about what we know, the answers we have, or the way we actually live?
In James 3:13–18, we're confronted with two very different kinds of wisdom, each with its own source, character and fruit.
Wisdom from below is shaped by bitter jealousy and selfish ambition. It promises the good life but ultimately produces disorder and division.
Wisdom from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, full of mercy and good fruit. It produces a harvest of righteousness and peace.
As we continue our series Pressure Points: Real Faith in Real Life, we were challenged to examine what's really shaping our desires, priorities and relationships, particularly when life gets busy and the pressure is on.
But true wisdom isn't simply found in knowing more or trying harder. Wisdom has a name, and his name is Jesus.
Jesus perfectly embodies the wisdom of God. Through his death and resurrection, he offers the forgiveness and new life we need, and as we follow him together, his wisdom increasingly bears fruit in our lives.
Which wisdom is shaping the way you live?
