The Apocalypse of Saint John the Apostle Chapter 14 "Of the Lamb, and of the virgins that follow him. Of the judgments that shall fall upon the wicked."
Hope; Of the Angelical Salutation; Whereupon came this manner of saluting the Mother of God?
October 28 Feast of Apostles Saint Simon and Saint Jude
October 28 Feast of Martyrs Saint Anastasia, virgin, and Saint Cyril of Rome
In this episode, we opened with prayer and continued our Bible study through Revelation 14, reading the chapter in full and then working through key footnotes and scriptural cross-references. We reflected on the Lamb standing on Mount Sion, the fall of Babylon, the warning against worshiping the beast, the blessedness of those who die in the Lord, and the harvest imagery that points to judgment at the end of the age. We also followed the chapter’s links back into Psalms, Acts, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Joel, and Matthew to show how Scripture interprets Scripture and how the patience of the saints is grounded in fidelity to Christ.
From there, we turned to the Large Catechism of St. Peter Canisius on the angelical salutation to the Blessed Virgin Mary, focusing on how the Hail Mary is rooted in the Gospel itself and confirmed by the Church’s continuous tradition. That led into Luke 1 and extended readings from St. John of Damascus on the Annunciation and the honor due to Our Lady. To close, we read from St. Alphonsus Liguori’s Victories of the Martyrs on St. Anastasia and St. Cyril of Rome, and we briefly noted the feast of Saints Simon and Jude before ending with prayer.

The Apocalypse of Saint John the Apostle Chapter 13 "Of the beast with seven heads: and of a second beast."
Hope; Of the Angelical Salutation; Which is commonly called the Angelical Salutation?
October 22 Feast of Saint Philip, Bishop of Heraclea, and his two companions, Saint Severus and Saint Hermes
In this episode, we opened with prayer and a Bible study on Revelation 13, walking through the vision of the beast, the second beast, and the number 666. We also read traditional footnotes and connected the passage to Genesis 9:6 and Matthew 26:52, then offered a personal reflection on the symbolism of 666, the Rule of 72, usury, and the biblical significance of numbers.
From there, we continued our catechism study on hope and the Angelical Salutation, turning to St. Peter Canisius and Luke 1 to reflect on the Hail Mary. We then read at length from St. Bernard of Clairvaux on the Annunciation and Our Lady’s fullness of grace. To close, we shared the martyrdom account of St. Philip of Heraclea, St. Severus, and St. Hermes from St. Alphonsus Liguori’s Victories of the Martyrs, encouraging us to look to their courage and perseverance as examples of steadfast faith.

The Apocalypse of Saint John the Apostle Chapter 12 "The vision of the woman clothed with the sun: and of the great dragon her persecutor"
Hope; Our Father; What is the sum of our Lord's Prayer?
October 18 Feast of Saint Luke the Evangelist
In this episode, we walked through Revelation 12 and its dramatic vision of the woman clothed with the sun, the great red dragon, and the battle led by St. Michael. We reflected on the traditional footnote that sees the woman first as the Church and, by allusion, also as Our Blessed Lady. From there, we wrapped up our catechism study on the Lord’s Prayer through St. Peter Canisius, focusing on how the prayer perfectly teaches us both to ask for what is good and to seek deliverance from evil.
We also began our reading for the upcoming October 18 feast of St. Luke the Evangelist from Jacobus de Voragine’s The Golden Legend. We explored Luke as physician, evangelist, companion of St. Paul, and careful witness to the life of Christ, along with the rich symbolism of the ox, man, lion, and eagle. The reading drew in voices like St. Jerome, St. Bernard, St. Ambrose, St. Augustine, and Richard of St. Victor to show how Luke’s life, Gospel, and mission have been understood in the Catholic tradition.
