[…] He still refused to flee from this intense suffering that he was headed toward. If you remember back in Matthew 17 verses 22 through 23, Jesus told his disciples that he would be delivered into the hands of men to be killed. And then in chapter 20, verses 17 through 19, he further clarified. He said that he would first be given to the chief priests and scribes to be condemned to death, and then he would be delivered to Gentiles to be mocked and flogged and crucified. He knew. He knew. So it's important that we realize Jesus isn't going into this torture blind. He's entering each phase of his suffering with knowledge and of what the Father is calling him to endure. […]
